Taster’s Review:

Yummy!  This tea tastes like berries and cream to me!

The green tea base tastes smooth – I can’t detect any vegetative or grassy flavor to it at all.  Just sweet smoothness.  It’s very light.

The focus in this tea is on the blueberry and vanilla.  The blueberry is sweet – but there is a faint tart tingle on the tip of my tongue at the end of the sip and in the aftertaste.  It isn’t a severe or strong berry flavor – it’s delicate but in keeping with the light flavor of the green tea.

And then there is vanilla.  This gives the blend a very creamy taste and texture as it coats the palate.  The vanilla essence is the strongest in this tea, but that’s quite alright with me, because I really like how it complements the blueberry in this blend.

I know it’s iced tea season – and the berry sweetness of this tea would make it an excellent candidate for chilling.  But I think I prefer my vanilla flavored teas hot as it keeps the vanilla flavors creamy as opposed to dulled.   This blend has a nice sweetness to it and I found it rather enjoyable without sweetener.

A very nice tea from Zhena’s!  If you like berry flavored teas, you really should try this one!

  1. I would love to know if you have any blends of tea that do not contain any acid like properties or any that are loaded with potassium. I have IC of the bladder and can’t eat or drink anything with acids, (ie oranges, tomatoes, spicy or zesty flavors or anything loaded in potassium). This chronic condition is sorta like having an urinary tract infection 24/7 with sometimes the burning and pain so unbearable I have to take percocets and valium to calm my nerves. There are other meds I take 2-3 times daily to head off the symptoms but more & more they seem to be losing their potency and I have more & more attacks that can only be controlled by “rescue treatments” where the bladder is coated & filled with a cocktail of about 7 medicines to help calm the bladder down. Potassium is the ultimate villian and until now never knew it was in so many foods and drinks. I would love to hear if you have any herbal teas that might be soothing and help me when I need it the most. All my teas and beverages are all caffeine free and I am beginning to live on crackers & cheese. I have lost about 10 pounds and counting because I am afraid to eat alot of foods. So, I use the teas to help me keep full and to keep me going. I recently had to throw away a blend that had citrus peels dehydrated in them and my husband could immediately smell & taste the oranges, so out it had to to. So, no teas with oranges in it. Other than that, I am open to any suggestions. Thanks for taking the time to read my rather long email. But, I wanted to impress upon you the severity of my situation. Looking forward to talking to you and seeing if you can come up with any interesting blends. I do love cinnamon, lavender and roses. I actually have tastes a tea made with roses and was blown away but I lost the card the person gave me at one of our spring festivals and have not seen her since. Hope to hear from you soon. (oh, I do eat alot of blueberries and they don’t upset my bladder or my IBS, so that is another avenue we could try along with hazelnut & peaches!

    Thank you for taking time to write to us. I am glad that you came by our blog! I will do my best to help you.

    Tea itself (that is the tea leaves – Camillia Sinensis) has acid in it, so one thing you need to look for is an herbal blend.

    I am not really versed too well on what herbs do have acid in them, so this is something that I would have to look into a little deeper and consult with a friend of mine who is an herbalist. When I have a chance to talk to her, I will write to you a bit more in length about some of your options.

  3. Another thing you might want to try is Rooibos…it’s supposed to help with digestion. I am not sure which IBS you suffer from but I know it has helped me in the past with some digestion issues. Another way to go might be Peppermint.
