Taster’s Review:

This Organic Love White Tea from Spicely Organics smells so amazing!  I wouldn’t have thought that mint, rose, lavender and white tea would have made such an appealing aroma, but, it’s really quite lovely.  White tea and mint … perhaps.  Definitely rose, lavender and white tea.  But, all four together?  I wouldn’t have imagined it smelling so beautiful.

And it tastes quite beautiful too!

The peppermint is the strongest flavor of the four ingredients in this tea, but I’m happy to report that it isn’t an overpowering flavor.   This doesn’t taste like mouthwash or even like a piece of peppermint chewing gum.  It has a light, sweet peppermint-y note that mingles in a very pleasing way with the flavors of lavender and rose and white tea.

The lavender is especially subtle here, offering just a hint of it’s calming presence.  Just enough to let you know it’s there, lulling you into a relaxing state.  The rose is a gentle flavor too, and it isn’t a sharp rose flavor.  It’s lightly sweet and floral.  The two flowers seem to mingle in such a way that it offers more of a “floral essence” than a distinct, powerful flowery taste.

And that’s good, because this IS a white tea, after all.  And White Peony tea tends to be a somewhat delicate tasting tea, and if the other components to this blend were too strong, they would create a taste that was all mint and flower.  I like that I can taste the white tea, it tastes fresh, light and crisp.  It is a perfect base for these other three flavors.

This is a really beautiful tea that seems to instill a sense of calm.  And definitely a tea with which I could easily fall in love!

Tea Description:

Makaibari tea estate is situated in a town called Kurseong in the district of Darjeeling. Kurseong means the land of the ‘white orchid’ in the local language. This is the reason why the infused leaves seem to come alive again yielding the palest liquor yearning to be sipped. When it touches your lips, your palate comes alive with a light chestnut flavour. The sweet aftertaste lingers on forever.

Taster’s Review:

Bai Mu Dan tea is one of those teas that when I drink it … I think to myself:  it’s been a long time since I’ve had a Bai Mu Dan.  It may not actually have been that long, but, it’s one of those teas that I miss when a day or two has passed and I haven’t had it.

I love the sweet, delicate quality of a good Bai Mu Dan.  And what makes this Makaibari Bai Mu Dan White Tea from Tea People different is that it is grown in the Darjeeling district, so I think that technically makes it a “Darjeeling” white tea, even though the leaves resemble a very high quality Bai Mu Dan.  These aren’t those crumbly, brown leaves that some companies pass off as a Bai Mu Dan.  These leaves are a gorgeous pale green, and if you look closely, you can see the soft, fuzzy down on these leaves.  The leaves are large and beautiful.

My first sip of this tea evoked thoughts of the taste of a dewdrop, like what I might taste if I were to drink the dew off a fresh, new spring leaf.  After that initial sip, I started to notice other flavors developing.

As the above description suggests, there is a light nutty flavor to this white tea, reminiscent of that creamy taste of a freshly roasted chestnut.  There are slight notes of earth to this as well as a hay-like note and a background of delicious melon.

The overall taste is light and refreshing.  It is sweet and relaxing to sip.  A really beautiful white tea!  If I were asked to list my all time favorite Bai Mu Dan teas, this one would land at the top of the list.  It’s one I’d recommend to all the white tea fans out there.

Taster’s Review:

As I sip this White Guava Tea from The Persimmon Tree, I can’t help but think of summertime!  Specifically, I’m thinking of summertime in Southern California, when the strawberries are in season and you can buy fresh, ripe strawberries right from the field from which they were grown.

Well, it’s been well over 10 years since I’ve been in Southern California, and for all I know, all the strawberry fields are gone now in favor of “city improvement,” which means more buildings and less strawberry fields.  That doesn’t sound like improvement to me.  But I didn’t come here to get all political on you, so I’ll stick to the tea.

This tea is bursting with guava and strawberry flavor and I love that the flavors taste true to the fruit.  This doesn’t taste artificial.  There is a hint of ginger to this, just enough to provide a little interest without it becoming too intrusive of a flavor.  It is sweet, fruity and delicious.

And then I taste the White Peony tea flavor, which is sweet and delicate with subtle earth notes.  Everything in this cup is really well-balanced:  it’s not too fruity, it’s not too spicy.  It has just the right amount of flavor to complement the tea without overpowering it.  It isn’t bitter.  There is a faint astringency to the cup but I only started noticing it when I started focusing to find it.  The aftertaste is lightly sweet with just a barely-there hint of berry tartness to it.

This is wonderful served hot on a chilly winter’s evening, but, it’s even better served iced.  Cool and refreshing!

Taster’s Review:

When I saw the ingredient list for this 1000 Cranes White Tea blend from Zenjala Tea Company, I was intrigued.  It seemed like a really unique blend:  strawberries and coconut, rose and Bai Mu Dan tea.

Visually, it’s a really beautiful blend.  The white tea leaves are some of the freshest looking Bai Mu Dan leaves I’ve yet to see!  They vary in color from light green to pale beige and each leaf is covered in tiny, soft white down.  The rose petals are plentiful in the blend, and it makes for a very pretty contrast with the white tea leaves.  I also see lots of coconut pieces and bits of dried berry.

The aroma of the dry leaf is very nice – I smell roses and berries and coconut!  The brewed liquid has a much softer scent, but I still smell the rose.  The pale, golden liquid also has a slight earthy note to it, reminding me of the fragrance I might experience if I were to walk through a garden of roses after a light rainfall.

The flavor is quite pleasant.  The rose and berry are the two strongest flavors, and I notice a soft, creamy coconut note coming through about mid-sip.  The flavor of the white tea is present throughout the sip as well, offering a slight earthy, hay-like flavor that mingles with the other flavors in an agreeable way.

I like that I taste the white tea and as I continue to sip, the flavors of the white tea emerge more.  This tea is not all about the flavoring, and one might think it would be, what with the strong notes of strawberry and rose, but, this tea is not just a celebration of fruit and flower, but also Bai Mu Dan!

So far, I’ve tried a couple of teas from this company, and I’ve been very satisfied with what I’ve tried.  I look forward to trying more from them in the future!

Taster’s Review:

I was very happy when I received this month’s Tea Tasting Box from Amoda Tea and discovered that Indie Tea was the featured tea purveyor for July.  Indie Tea is one of my favorite tea purveyors because I love their fun, fresh and funky attitude toward tea!  Their packaging is fun and their blends are deliciously different – with cool names to match their unique flavors.

One of the teas that was included in this month’s box – Lover’s Lane – is one that I’ve previously tried and reviewed.  So, I won’t be writing another review for that tea, but, I am certainly happy to be tasting it again!  In the meantime, I am going to tell you a little bit about this blend that I’m sipping right now – The Road to Hana White Tea Blend from Indie Tea.

And it is YUM!  It’s got a great tropical flavor to it with the coconut and the mango notes, as well as the hibiscus.  (Which is also quite tropical!)  The hibiscus, gratefully, is not overdone here.  It didn’t even really color the brewed tea very much … there was a slight pinkish hue but really, this looked more like a white tea than a hibiscus-y tea.

And it TASTES more like a white tea than a hibiscus-y tea too.  And I’m very happy about that.

The white tea has a soft, delicate flavor (no surprise there, right?) and lends an earthy, sweet base for the additional sweetness of the fruity mango and creamy coconut notes.  The hibiscus adds just a hint of tartness and it’s just enough of a contrasting note to offset the sweeter tropical fruits.  Indie Tea has managed to achieve a nice balance of tart and sweet that leans more toward the sweet than the tart.

This has a nice mango flavor.  The coconut is more “creamy” than coconut-y tasting … and I like the creaminess as it complements the white tea nicely.  The result is a sweet and creamy cup of tropical lusciousness that has just a subtle tart note.  Tasty!

A really nice choice by Amoda Tea.  I like this one, and I’m glad I got to try it.
