Taster’s Review:

Beverly Hills Breakfast from Compass Teas is a must try. First of all its a yellow tea, which I adore yellow teas, secondly it is a bright, cheerful cup that is an excellent breakfast treat.

This tea can be purchased by the ounce or in a try me size which is really special because yellow teas are not only a little more rare to come by but usually you won’t find a means to sample them easily.

You can learn more about yellow tea here.

I was really happy to find this tea in my most recent package of tea samples from my SororiTea Sister Jennifer. I love yellow teas and am always eager to try a new one. I do recall having seen this tea offered by Compass before but I sort of spaced it out and never got around to ordering any. Also I will admit, orange flavored teas are not generally my “go to” flavor in teas, yet I am so happy to have had the chance to sample this one. It’s quite delightful!

Its sunny, crisp, citrusy, yet there is this champagne bubble like sensation that reminds me of a mimosa!

I suppose I should not be surprised, after all this is how the tea is described, but I’m really happy with how the blend comes over on the palate. Its light, refined, yet flavorful.

Compass Teas did a really good job on this blend!

Taster’s Review:

Yummy!  With my first couple of sips of this Coconut Macaroon Black Tea Blend from Compass Teas, I could definitely taste the coconut, but I wasn’t so sure that it was a Coconut Macaroon cookie that I was tasting, and with a name like “Coconut Macaroon” that’s what I expected to taste!

But after allowing the tea to cool slightly – it’s still hot, just not freshly poured from the teapot hot – I notice the flavors of Coconut Macaroon Cookie begin to emerge.

The coconut is definitely the star of this show, and since I love the taste of coconut, I certainly don’t have a problem with that.  The flavor is sweet and creamy … and coconut-y!  Beneath the prominent coconut flavor, I notice a sweet, nutty flavor that I attribute to the macadamia nut, although I can’t really say that it tastes distinctly macadamia nut-ish.  It tastes nutty, toasty, and sweet … but, it doesn’t stand out and say to me “I am Macadamia Nut!”

Then there is also a lovely bake-y kind of taste to this that ties this tea all together – truly making it taste a bit like a liquefied coconut macaroon cookie!  I think that this comes from not just the combination of flavorings used to create this blend but also the black tea base itself – which is pleasant tasting, with a certain robustness to it.  It is what I’d classify as a medium-strength tea … not overwhelmingly bold, but this is not a wimpy tea either.  It’s got a lot of flavor to it, and it holds its own in the midst of the strong coconut and sweet nut flavors.

Compass Teas has themselves a real winner on their hands with this tea!  I love it!

Taster’s Review:

When I measured out this Butterscotch Toffee Black Tea Blend from Compass Teas, I was kind of surprised to see all the stems in the tea.  I thought to myself, this is a really “stemmy” tea … which is sometimes indicative of a poor quality tea, but, in this case, I don’t think that’s true.  After reading the description and ingredient list on the Compass Teas Website, and seeing “Camellia Sinensis Stems” as one of the ingredients, I realize this is supposed to be a stemmy tea!

My first couple of sips of this tea … all I could really taste was a strong, earthy, somewhat “roasted” tea flavor, but nothing that resembled either butterscotch or toffee.  Then I allowed it to cool for a few minutes (maybe five minutes?  The tea was still pleasantly hot, but not piping hot), and the flavors began to pop.  Now I could taste a rich, buttery taste along with a sweet, caramel-y note.  YUM!

And even though this is a sweet tasting tea, and even with a name like Butterscotch Toffee … I’m not finding this to be a cloyingly sweet tea.  It is definitely what I’d call a dessert tea, but, it doesn’t taste too sweet.

I’m also gratified to find that the strongest flavors of this cup are not the butterscotch or the toffee … but the tea!  The tea is a robust black tea … it’s good and strong, and I think that the stems of the Camellia Sinensis gives this tea a pleasantly “roasted” kind of flavor that almost mimics a coffee-like richness.  This is a tea that would be very satisfying served as a breakfast tea, it has that hearty flavor that I want first thing in the morning … and that it is a Butterscotch Toffee tea … makes it a delightful indulgence too.

I recommend trying this as a latte too … it makes a really decadent treat!

When the snow comes to cover the ground
It’s the time for play, it’s a whipped cream day

Ingredients: Black Tea, Organic Flavoring

I checked with COMPASS – this is a VEGAN Tea***

Tasters Review:
It’s been COLD – darn COLD so I thought it was fitting to sip on this tea.  This DOES smell like a Marshmallowy type aroma…eventho there are no actual Marshmallows in this!  And YES, it’s vegan!  Woot!   The dry loose leaf is just that…loose leaf…there are no novelTEAs added…it’s a flavored leaf.

It does lose a bit of the aroma once infused.   But I’m ok with that!

It brews-up very dark brown.

The taste is quite good. It has a medium-strong black tea base. It has a little bit of a sugary-type flavor to it as well as almost equal parts black pepper type flavor to it. In the middle to end of the sip there is a nice amount of woodsy-ness to it, too!

This is an interesting, unique, festive, and tasty flavored black tea!

Tasters Review:

It’s been a while since my last YELLOW Tea Review here at Sororitea Sisters. When I saw that Compass had this one available I was super excited to try this one but wanted to save it for the right moment.

First – LOVE the name! Beverly Hills Breakfast Tea sounds SO Very posh!

The aroma is out-of-this-world!  It’s Slightly peppery aroma meets yellow tea meets Mimosa/Champagne/Orange flavors all working hand-in-hand.

I would have to say I can taste the yellow tea along side the orange – first and foremost.  Then I can taste a bit of spice – a mild pepper – perhaps – almost like a white peppercorn, maybe.  Then…a subtle champagne type flavor on the end. Even with the flavors – it’s incredibly clean. There is a nice amount of ‘juiciness’ to it, too!

This is a very lovely flavored yellow tea from Compass.  I’m so glad I was able to try it and share it with you!
