#FanaticFriday: The Archer Tea (Formerly Daryl Dixon Tea) from Adagio Signature Fandom Blends

#FanaticFriday: The Archer Tea (Formerly Daryl Dixon Tea) from Adagio Signature Fandom Blends is today’s tag and The Archer Tea (Formerly Daryl Dixon Tea) from Adagio Signature Fandom Blends is today’s tea!  That’s right it’s another #FanaticFriday Tea here at Sororitea Sisters!  This one is for the fans of The Walking Dead!

Season 7 of The Walking Dead premieres on October 23rd so we still have over a month to go before we get our fix.  In the meantime I thought I would tide you over with this tea blended by Chris Diaz.

When I initially bought this tea it was called Daryl Dixon but has since been re-named The Archer.  Either way I wanted to share my thoughts and feelings of this blend.  #FanaticFriday: The Archer Tea (Formerly Daryl Dixon Tea) from Adagio Signature Fandom Blends has ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ in there!  Okay – maybe not – but it has a LOT of ingredients!  There is a LOT going on here but it all seems to work!

I’m enjoying the flavored Yerba Mate base here but it has a bit more Hibiscus than I would like in one sitting.  But that doesn’t rip me away from this tea!  I also like that he used Green Tea in this one as well.  I think that the Ginseng counteracts the hibiscus a tad but maybe the addition of more ginseng and by using a bit less of the hibiscus this would have been (even more) my speed.  There is a LOT of citrus here and I like that but it almost encourages the hibiscus to shine more – almost like a pier pressure type situation.

Having said that…I do like The Archer Tea (Formerly Daryl Dixon Tea) from Adagio Signature Fandom Blends.  I prefer it iced.  I think this is a wonderful tribute to the character and the series and can’t wait for Season 7 of The Walking Dead!

#FanaticFriday: Stargate(SG1) Dr Daniel Jackson from Adagio Fandom Signature Blends

I’ve been going thru Stargate withdrawals and just might have to go back and re-watch all of them AGAIN from the beginning until then I can reminisce  with this tea…Stargate(SG1) Dr Daniel Jackson from Adagio Fandom Signature Blends.  Won’t you join us in celebrating #FanaticFriday: Stargate(SG1) Dr Daniel Jackson from Adagio Fandom Signature Blends is the tea I have chose for the occasion.  Dr Daniel Jackson was one of my favorite characters!

This Stargate(SG1) Dr Daniel Jackson from Adagio Fandom Signature Blends is something I have had in my personal stash for a while and just noticed recently that it is one of the signature adagio blends from Jeffrey McWhirter.  The tea gods must have been talking to me because Woodie (Jeffrey’s partner) and I have been chatting about possibly featuring some of their signature blends in the near future!  Heck YES!  Especially if Stargate(SG1) Dr Daniel Jackson from Adagio Fandom Signature Blends is any hint of what is to come!

Stargate(SG1) Dr Daniel Jackson from Adagio Fandom Signature Blends infuses to a very dark brown which I LOVE.  The aroma is very chai-like with the addition of cocoa nibs, cocoa nibs, and more cocoa nibs!  The flavor is an enhanced chai taste on tongue with your standard chai flavors paired with slightly sweet, creamy, and cocoa hints.  Okay…there are more than just HINTS of cocoa there is quite a bit and I think that is pair of why this blend shines!

Stargate(SG1) Dr Daniel Jackson from Adagio Fandom Signature Blends is much like the character I adore on the show… strong, sensitive, geeky, smart, and intriguing!

Taster’s Review:

Geeky Teas is one of my favorite tea companies to check out. I love the compassion for all things geeky that they embrace.  They have been busy too with moving to a new location so I haven’t had a chance to chat with Donna in a bit.  I do believe that Filthy Human Plant Juice is one of about 3 or 4 remaining tea samples I have left from Geeky Teas.  Looks like I may need to order more soon. (I mean c’mon- there is a Deadpool Oolong Blend!)

So right off the bat, this tea has a dessert feel to it. The description on Geeky’s Teas says it best-this tea does have a remarkably strong resemblance to Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies. And who doesn’t love a Girl Scout cookie?

Brewed with the packages recommendations-Steep at 180F for 2-3 minutes, I was literally drooling with the idea of this tea. I am not a chocolate fan by any means but I have always loved Thin Mints. Especially after having them frozen in a freezer for a few months and enjoying them on a hot day. There is nothing better!

First sip of this tea and I could see exactly what Geeky Teas was trying to accomplish, but to me, it missed the mark a bit. The green tea has a more vegetal feel than I had hoped. That could be from a oversteep.  I was hoping for more of a buttery silky tone and texture.  The chocolate and peppermint also didn’t quite sit well with me. The flavors didn’t seem to really mingle well together and create the palate refreshing notes I was looking for. This blend just really seemed to want to contrast itself every step of the way. Maybe as a cold brew, this tea would bring out the notes I am looking for.

Even tho this particular blend didn’t sing true with me, there are so many others that do from Geeky Teas. I love the combo of fandom and tea. Just makes my geeky tea gal’s heart happy!

Taster’s Review:

I will admit it right off the bat. I have tried to play Portal and I was absolutely awful at it. To the point where my kiddos were like “It’s ok Mommy, you are good at other things.”  I used to think I was good at video games, guess that just isn’t the case anymore.  In that moment, I knew I was old. (ha!)

Geeky Teas is one of my favorite tea shops.  They produce fun unique handed blended teas that scream with personality and of course I love the idea that they are based on fandoms.  The Cake Is A Lie blend is a mix of black tea, vanilla flavorings, candy sprinkles, creme flavor, and caramel flavor.  Just take a whiff of the dry leaf mix and you can smell each and ever one of those ingredients.  The dry leaf smells simply divine.  One of those teas that you feel like you are gaining weight just by smelling the tea.

Brewed up with freshly prepped boiling water, I allowed this tea to steep for about 4 minutes. I waited a few moments to let the tea cool and took my first sip.  Oh my Goodness! This tea isn’t just good. It’s brilliant! This tea is the king of dessert teas! The black tea is the silent base that is giving the flavors to be the star.  The creme and the caramel are the flavors you really get along with a chocolate note here and there.  The flavors all combined really doesn’t taste like a chocolate cake. I have tried so many different teas that say they taste like cake, this one really does!

This may be the best tea I have tried yet from Geeky Teas. I see a large pouch of this blend in my future!

Taster’s Review:

Tonight is the night! Game of Thrones finale! How exciting! This season has been an intense one.  We really haven’t had any filler episodes.  Each episode has been in your face with pure action and have been emotionally driven.  Love this show and I’m sad this season is about over.  It feels like it just began!

In honor of tonight’s episode, I am going to review Dornish Wine, a GoT inspired tea from Margaret’s Fine Imports.  I have tried almost all of the GoT inspired teas.  So far, the Wilding White has been my favorite.

Dornish Wine is an interesting blend. The dry leaves had a very berry smell to them.  There are several different kinds of berries in this blend.  I was excited when I saw the dried grapes in the lineup.  The blend itself was very pretty.  Lots of deep reds.  I wonder if this is how the wine tastes in King’s Landing.

I steeped this tea like a traditional black tea.  Brewed up this blend tasted more like a very dry red wine.  It did actually taste like wine.  I couldn’t believe it.  Somehow Margaret’s Fine Imports actually found a way to make their tea taste like wine.  How fun!

Unfortunately I am not a dry red wine fan, but I added in just a bit of honey from Bee Local and this tea was just a delight.  I couldn’t really taste each individual berry flavor, but this had that berry profile to it.

Fan or not of this show, this tea was a fun experience! Having a tea that actually tasted like wine was pretty impressive and the fact that they were able to capture the dry feature of the wine was even more impressive! This may not be my favorite of the GoT line up, but I”ll keep some on hand to experiment with and see what I can come up with maybe with cold brewing.

Regardless, Winter is Coming . . . . . .
