Farmer’s Wife Raspberry from St Fiacre’s Farm

The last tea review on my Review-A-Thon.  I hope enjoyed the reviews today as much as I enjoyed sharing the good word about these teas!

Herbal teas.  I have such a love hate relationship with them.  Being one that doesn’t really dig spiced or overly gingerized tea. .  . . I have a hard time finding just the right blend for my tastes. Being one that does see the health benefits of certain herbal blends (not weight loss), I’m always looking for blends that may help me with a few pain management situations I deal with on a daily if not sometimes hourly basis.

When I discovered St. Fiacre’s Farm, I was excited.  They offered several different herbal blends that didn’t have that overly spiced ingredient list of my arch enemy-red rooibos.  One blend instantly caught my eye- Farmer’s Wife Raspberry. This blend consists of nettle, red clover, raspberry leaf, green rooibos, and a few other ingredients- all organic.  Whenever I see a blend that has red clover, I’m instantly lured in.

Using the recommended parameters, this herbal brews up beautifully. The tea has a pinkish hue and the flavors are delicate but with such wonderful flavor.  With each and every sip, I take away this sweet honey like berry slightly tart flavor that makes me happy.  I’m a big fan of green rooibos and love the fact this herbal is the base for this tea.

This herbal blend is smooth berry from the start with this silky honey note that flows brilliantly from the beginning to the very end.  I’ve had this tea iced and the tea is just as amazing.  I can’t say that I’ve seen the benefits of drinking this herbal tea just because I need to drink the tea on a more regular basis.  Sometimes its hard to get in all the tea drinking you want to, manage your day correctly and drink all the water you need to.  But for this tea, I really need to get my priorities in order – for being a good for you tea as far as health benefits- this tea is also good for your taste buds!

Cinderella from Kipers Lil Tea Shop. . .

I love the wonderful world of Etsy. You just never know what you will find wandering through the shops.  I always like to see what possible gem of a tea shop I might stumble upon.  You really just never know what you might find and I think I have found quite a gem the other day.

Kipers Lil Tea Shop offers quite a variety of hand blended teas, anything from herbal teas to flavored puerh blends.  When I saw the picture of Cinderlla, I knew I had to try it.

Cinderella is a blend of puerh, calendula, hibiscus, red clover, jasmine, and a few other inclusions.  The combination of puerh and jasmine instantly grabbed a hold of me and screamed-“You MUST try me NOW”.  So I threw a few other teas into my cart and anxiously awaited by the mailbox for my beauties to arrive.

Finally the day came when this adorably packaged treat arrived.  Inside were my tea samples telling me to prep my tea pot asap.  Since this is a puerh, I prepped my water to 212F and allowed this tea to steep for 4 minutes, then cooled for an additional 3 minutes.

With being a blend of puerh and jasmine, I wasn’t sure what to think.  Floral and dark teas don’t exactly sound like they belong, but I have to say, they really do.  This tea blend is absolutely gorgeous! The dark tea tones provide such a dark and alluring flavor that is earthy, robust, and rich.  Hibiscus tart notes yield a wonderful contrast to the puerh while the jasmine provides this slight floral hint.  The rest of the inclusions give off this lovely herbal feel to finish the sip off.  Such a unique pairing of flavors.

I couldn’t get enough of this cuppa and quickly prepped for a second infusion.  I have to say, this tea didn’t steep up for a second cuppa like I thought the blend would.  The flavors definitely did not come across as strong but I was still happy to get another cuppa of this wonderful tea.

I’m insanely gaga over this tea and over Kipers Lil Tea Shop.  Currently there are around 60ish teas available to check out from this lovely gem of a tea shop and quite a few of them are now calling to me. . . .

Description

Cinderella – A delightfully original blend of black tea, herbs and flowers create this one-of-a-kind herbal tea that will have you wanting more. Starting on a bed of Pu’erh black tea, I add in some Red Clover Herb & Blossoms, Catauba Bark (a known aphrodisiac), Calendula petals, Jasmine buds, and Hibiscus, and then for added “oomph” I sprinkled in some Vitex Chaste Berry (the “female-friendly” fruit).
The result is a taste unlike anything you have ever had, and you definitely won’t find this pre-bagged on a store shelf.

Organic Raspberry Leaf SuperHerb Tea for Women’s Health from Republic of Tea. . .

Well today was just one of those days. Everything seemed to be going wrong. Focus was just not in the stars for me. And to top it all off, I started my period (sorry if that’s TMI).

My day began at 6am when I woke up in a fright because my alarm just decided not to sound. When I woke up, I realized my stomach was sore, partially due to cramps and partially because I just wasn’t feeling great. That is when I realized most of my work pants were in the laundry, leaving me with my tight work pants to have to uncomfortably squeeze into. After stuffing my sore self into my pants, I dragged myself to work, running just a bit late and arriving at my desk to find the accounting department was upset with me for improperly opening a file which messed up billing. This would be bad enough except the file was opened properly and it was actually ACCOUNTING that f***ed up but decided to blame me for it. Then, a client caught a mistake I made in a letter and though it was a minor error that was easily fixed, it felt like the icing on top of the sh@%*ty cake that was my morning. Plus, my usual lunch partner decided to tell me AFTER we were supposed to go to lunch that she wasn’t going, leaving me unexpectedly on my own. So, today just wasn’t my day.

When I got home and saw this tea, I figured today was as good a day of any to try it out. I don’t really buy into the tea-as-medicine theory but it seemed weird drinking a tea “for Women’s Health” when it wasn’t my womanly time. Plus, if I am being honest, a tea with “SuperHerb” in the name just doesn’t appeal to me. It makes me think that this tea will taste like savory herbs instead of a sweet tea, which might be good for some but not really what I look for when I brew a cuppa. However, today was a crampy day and on the off chance this worked, I figured why not give it a try?

My first sip started off tasting of raspberry but I think I may be crazy because I swear the end of the sip tastes like a slightly underripe banana. Okay, I keep continuing to drink this and though it smells like raspberry, it continues to taste like banana. Not banana flavoring either but true-to-the-fruit banana, with a hint of strawberry. I can actually see where they are coming from when they say, “this tea is reminiscent of a fruity parfait” because it actually is. This is so simple but quite pleasant. Has it helped with the cramps? I don’t really know but it tastes good so I am happy nonetheless. I guess this day has not totally gone to s@%^ after all as this tea was a pleasant surprise.
