Green Tea with Pomegranate from Bigelow. . . .

This is the tea I like to call “better than it has any right to be.”

I first had this blend at a brunch place with a sad, meager tray of tea bags. I chose the one I hadn’t tried that still had caffeine (this one).

“This is going to be trash,” I told my husband.

And then I sipped it.

I’m telling you, this is a pleasant surprise every time I have it!

It is surprisingly sturdy and juicy. I am usually kind of snide about bagged tea, but this one holds up. The green vegetal flavor is light, and the pomegranate pops. I turn to this blend fairly frequently when I just don’t have the energy to gravity-steep things. (Ugh, with the water, and the rinsing, and the measuring, you know? Sometimes you just want to put a bag in a mug and call it a day.)

When people want a cheap starter-tea that they can just grab at a supermarket, this is always the first one I recommend. Give it a whirl! It’s cheap, it’s everywhere, and it’s easy!

Pomegranate Black from 52Teas. . . .

Let me start by saying I love flavored black teas. Fruity, chocolately, spicy, you name it. So, I was stoked to try this one. It’s certainly not anything that will blow your socks off, but is more of a solid contender for a daily spring or summer tea.

Flavored teas are really only as good as the base upon which they’re built, so I was glad that this black tea base had a mild flavor. The pomegranate is a light, clean berry-ish flavor that’s more of a scent of the tea rather than a full-blown flavor. I also added just a touch of agave to bring out the sweetness of the fruit. It was a nice complement to the irresistible, ever-famous boxes of cookies that the little girls in green peddle each year around this time.

Overall, Pomegranate Black by 52 Teas is a simple, non-adventurous tea that begs to be paired with sweets for a mid-afternoon treat or as slight twist on iced tea to be served at lunch with friends.

I would certainly drink it again!

Pomegranate Passion White from Simpson and Vail. . . . .

I’ve been on a white tea kick lately. I couldn’t tell you what spurred white tea specifically but I certainly have one I would like to share with you today! It’s a flavored white tea and it’s from Simpson & Vail. It’s their Pomegranate Passion White Tea.

Pomegranate White Tea from Simpson & Vail is lightly sweet and incredibly delicious! It’s a blend of natural pomegranate and passion fruit flavors and it has a lovely airy, breezy tropical aroma that awakens the senses. Once infused it looks a little pinkish to the naked eye – sitting there in the cup waiting for me to take the first sip. This can be enjoyed either hot or iced. I like them equally.

Ingredients in this Pomegranate Passion White Tea are…of course…White tea…PLUS organic hibiscus flowers, marigold petals, malva flowers and natural pomegranate and natural passion fruit flavors. The ‘barely-there’ hibiscus flowers are at the ratio I wish most if not all other companies would ‘live by’. A little bit goes a long way! S&V seem to have this ratio down pat and for that I’m thankful! The floral ingredients are on the sweeter side moreso than the bitter/floral side and I’m happy about that, too! The fruity flavoring is nicely done…NOT overdone. Who ever put this tea together deserves a ‘MAJOR AWARD’ as the catch phrase from Christmas Story states!

I brewed 2 teaspoons of this loose leaf tea in 8 ounces of water (at roughly 175°), and steeped for 3 or 4 minutes. I was also able to cold brew this with success by infusing it overnight, too!

I’m totally LOVING this flavored white tea!
