Lemon Cakes from The Forest Witch

Lemon Cakes Loose Tea a GoT (Game of Thrones) inspired tea for Sansa’s love for buttery lemon cakes. Being a huge fan of GoT, I had to try it out. Plus green teas are my favorite.  So this was a win win!

I was extremely excited to share this tea with my family so the last together we had family dinner, I brewed up a huge pot of this tea.  The tea smelled amazing.  Rich smooth lemony goodness.  But unfortunately, I oversteeped the tea. Shame on me for not setting a timer. So I took the tea leaves, put them into a stick infuser, grabbed a glass of ice and proceeded to make cold brew tea.

This tea was simply decadent! Rich lush creamy lemon notes with a underlying green tea hint here and there.  I couldn’t believe how very close to a lemon cake this actually tasted like. There was even a sugary feel that gave way to an icing note completing the sip.  It doesn’t really get better than a tall refreshing glass of tea that reminds you of an iced lemon cake.  I’m over the moon about this tea! Even if this blend wasn’t GoT inspired, I would still absolutely adore it. Just a wonderful refreshing way to pick up anyone’s day. This tea just screams sunshine and happiness!

I’m hoping this tea is still around when GoT returns next year. Especially since this next season is supposed to come out during the summer. The perfect companion to enjoy one of my favorite shows!

Taster’s Review:

Being such a fan of Mountain Witch Tea Company, I couldn’t wait to try another green tea of theirs.  I have had a couple in the past but have found that I tend to like their flavored black teas better than their flavored green teas.

First off, I love the logo for this tea.  The beautiful artwork is so fun and really eye catching. The loose leaf tea is the same way.  The gorgeous green tea looks amazing along side the giant chrysanthemum that was in my sample.

Brewed up like a green tea, this tea sent a lovely tropical green tea aroma thru my desk.  I really loved how this tea smelled. First taste and sadly this tea is not for me.

This tea delivers on a nice bright green tea flavor but there is an odd taste in there that makes this tea tart and not taste right to me.  I’m not getting lovely buttery notes or any of the berry/passion flavors.  I pick up the lemon and the cardamom and something else I can’t really put my finger on.  What I can really pick up on is how very astringent this tea is.  This tea may be one that needs to be cold brewed or enjoyed more as an iced tea to get those flavors to mingle together and give that passion fruit a chance to pop.  Another one that I might need to go back and experiment with.

As much as I adore Mountain Witch Tea Company, I know this tea can be dynamite.  Just need to figure out the best way to get those flavors to work for me.

Lemon Green Tea from Whispering Pines Tea Company

Green Tea

Whispering Pines Tea Company

Production Description:

Lemon Green Tea makes for a deliciously simple morning wake-up drink, and goes especially well with a drizzle of honey as a sweetener. This buttery-green tea blends three different styles of green tea with the perfect amount of lemongrass to create a blend that is delicious hot and quenching and reviving iced.

Tasters Review:

Oh! What a lovely combo of green teas this has!  I totally agree with the product description saying that the green tea has a buttery texture to it, too! Very nice.

The Lemongrass is perfectly assisting the green teas, here! I wouldn’t change the ratio at all!

This is smooth and flavorful.  It’s very delicious.

I’d also agree with the hint of pine needle taste – more-so – as it cools at room temp for a bit and more towards the end of the sip.

Another winner – NOT to be passed up – from Whispering Pines – YUMMO!
