Hong Yu (Red Jade) Taiwanese Black Tea from Zi Chun Tea Co

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: Zi Chun Tea Co

Product Description:

A high quality organic black tea – this unique tea was developed & refined by the Taiwan tea research station. It is a cross between an Assam strain from Burma & a local wild strain. A truly great tea.
A noticeable cinnamon aroma and carries a subtle, but pleasant mint flavor.

Tasters Review:

WOW!  Just…WOW!  This is SO amazing on SO many levels!  This is a mighty fine Black Tea, right here, folks!

Hong Yu (Red Jade) Taiwanese Black Tea from Zi Chun smells a little like tomato soup and/or tomato bread…I LOVE the aroma!  The taste is toasty, creamy, malty, a mellow black tea, meets a hint of cherry tomato type undertone but then changes up and evens out.

By the after taste I can find that mint note the description says lingers…it’s so amazingly different I can’t NOT like this one!  I would HIGHLY recommend this tea to ANYONE!

Tasters Review:

I’ve said it before and I will say it again (and again)…I’m VERY impressed with The Persimmon Tree Tea Company’s Selection and quality of flavors/products!

The dry aroma of their Amore Tea is mostly minty but also has a stronger Rose Aroma as a secondary scent.  The post infusion aroma is mostly Rose but a nice refreshing Mint Scent, too.

The color is a light brown with a little gray.  The taste is very nice, pretty, and pleasant!

The Rose and Mint are about 50/50 equal in flavor…this in itself amazes me! The white tea is noticeable as well.  This is a great uplifting and refreshing aftertaste!  I really like this!  Another winner from Persimmon Tree Tea Company!

“Ahhhhhhhhh!”

Mint Chocolate Chip from The Persimmon Tree

Product Description:

Ingredients Organic Rooibos, Vanilla, Mint, Chocolate Pieces * Characteristics Energizing, Organic, Caffeine-Free * Flavors Sweet, Minty * Caffeine Content None * Steep Temperature 200˚ * Steep Time 3-5 mins

Tasters Review:

I’m always interested in Mint Chocolate Chip Flavored stuff!  I have to admit…I just think chocolate and mint are genius together…generally speaking!

BUT…when it comes to this flavored rooibos…it doesn’t let me down!  It’s intensely flavored and smells AWESOMELY AWESOME! I know that is redundant and not the most creative phrasing for an official tea/tisane review but it DOES fit the bill…trust me!

I can see all of the ingredients and something that looks like dried apple but I don’t see that in the list of ingredients so maybe what I am seeing is a vanilla bean or something.

The taste is a nice, bold, strong Chocolate and Mint Mix.  It does hide quite a bit of the Rooibos taste but paired with the vanilla makes for a milky-smooth ending and aftertaste.

This is very good!  I like this a lot!  And I mean A LOT!

As it cools the chocolate becomes more malty…almost like a chocolate milk shake type malty…this aspect of the taste interests me as I don’t recall having that happen to me in other tea/tisanes.

This without a doubt made it to my mid 90 percentile of favorites!

Santa’s Secret from David’s Tea

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: David’s Tea

Product Description:

Need a little helper?
Ever wonder how Santa manages to deliver all those presents in just one night? Well here’s the hush-hush formula. He uses a special combination of Chinese black tea, peppermint leaves and spices – all sprinkled with real little candy canes. It’s both energizing and remarkably soothing. All Santa needs is one cup and his motto changes from “ho ho ho” to “go go go”.

Tasters Review:

Someone at David’s Tea must have done some checking up on me to know I have a weakness for minty teas!  Perhaps THAT’S Santa’s Secret!  He was spying on me!?

The Minty Goodness and the Candy Cane Goodness are separate but still yummy and still work together very nicely!  I LOVE the little Candy Canes in this!  So Festive!

I ALWAYS drink my teas plain but I might have to break down and try this one with some Soy Milk – just because!  BUT this IS lovely as-is!!!  So either way – plain or with additives – this is sure to be a treat!
