Turmeric Glow/Pukka. . . .

I bought this on a recommendation. The person who recommended it did not say it was delicious. She said it had turmeric in it and she liked that for health reasons. Also, you can steep it for fifteen minutes with no harm done, and she forgets that she is steeping tea a lot. So win/win. Ha ha!

So I bought it! I saw the three main ingredients listed on the front and figured there was only a little turmeric (maybe) and surely the lemon covered up the turmeric. Then I looked at the full ingredient list, the proportions, and the instructions. Boiling water on green tea? Fifteen minutes? Okay, I am going to trust you, Pukka! Don’t let me down!

My eyes grew wide at the full list. Silly me, thinking it was just turmeric (40%), lemon, and green tea (20%). There is cardamom, lemon verbena, and licorice root as well. I made a small pot using three teabags. I didn’t go for a full fifteen minute steep, but having tried this tea, I think you definitely can. When I poured my first cup, the color was already a rich gold. Howdy, turmeric!

My youngest daughter is drinking this with me. She doesn’t get the broth comparison. She says it just tastes savory to her and she likes it. And I suppose I like it, too. But I feel a strong compulsion to add rice and carrots and onions.

Bottom line – 1. I can drink this easily to see if the turmeric will do me as much good as friends tell me it does for them. 2. I will almost certainly try using it in cooking. I think it would be awesome for a small pot of soup. And 3. it will be fantastic when you are sick because it has a rich and savory satisfying flavor for when you don’t really feel like eating.

Ginseng Matcha Green from Pukka. . . . .

I’m a big fan of Pukka teas, and recently I was sent a care package from the UK and some Pukka tea bags were included.

I recently tried the ginseng matcha green tea and was not disappointed. It has a very bright, citrus-y flavor that I really enjoyed. It was very refreshing, and seemed like a perfect fit for an early spring morning. This tea is made with sencha green tea, lemongrass, ginger and licorice root, red ginseng, matcha powder and lemon Vana tulsi leaf. Lemongrass is one of my absolute favorite flavors, and it really shined in this delicious tea.

In addition to the wonderful flavor, I felt very energized after drinking it. It was more than just the caffeine from the green tea. It was like my senses were awakened from the citrus, and probably the ginseng too.

Years ago I took ginseng supplements for awhile, and I remember feeling a definite pep in my step. I also remember they seemed to lift my mood as well. I was living in Seattle at the time, and having a hard time dealing with all the rain.

This tea is definitely one of my favorites. It’s smooth and light and although I had mine warm, I imagine it would make an out of this world ice tea. It would be a very refreshing beverage to have on a warm, muggy summer day. If you haven’t tried Pukka teas, I can’t recommend them enough. This is the fourth or fifth flavor I’ve tried, and I love them all so much!

Supreme Matcha Green from Pukka. . .

A friend got a bunch of sample teas at her job and was so kind to send me some. The brand is Pukka, which I’ve seen at a few specialty shops, but never tried myself.

This morning I decided to try the supreme matcha green, which according to the packet has the finest organic green tea leaves and the finest matcha powder. The first thing I noticed was the amazing, crisp smell of the tea. It made me want to start drinking right away. I almost could smell ginger, although it has no ginger. This is going to sound crazy, but this tea smelled beautiful.

Hands down this is the best green tea I have ever had. It has such a distinct, fresh flavor that I’ve never tasted in any green tea. It was so crisp you would almost think it has citrus, or ginger.

This really made my morning. I got two bags of this type, so I’m going to make a batch of iced tea with the other bag. My guess is that it will be the best, most refreshing green tea ever.

I have noticed when I see this brand of tea at the shops it is a little pricier than other teas, but I can say hands down it’s worth it. I was seriously blown away.
