Taster’s Review:

Mmm!  I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before, but I haven’t ever had rhubarb (except for rhubarb flavored teas) … at least, not to my recollection.  I am pretty sure that I’ve never had Strawberry Rhubarb pie.  But if this Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Flavored Honeybush from 52Teas is any indication of what I’m missing, I think I need to try some soon!

This is really tasty!  The nutty, sweet flavor of the honeybush is not a strong, distinct flavor but, I do notice it, and it melds nicely with the slightly buttery taste of the tisane … giving it a sort of freshly baked pastry shell kind of flavor.

The strawberry tastes sweet … in fact, it might be a tad too sweet for me to say that it tastes of authentic strawberry … it tastes a bit more like a glazed strawberry or like the strawberries that my gramma would mash with sugar for strawberry shortcake.  There is a tart note to this too, but it isn’t that “berry tart” … so I can only presume that the tartness comes from the rhubarb.  The aftertaste imparts a slight “berry tingle” on the tip of my tongue.

I find that I like the fruit taste here … it is smooth, sweet and delicious.  It doesn’t really POP as a strawberry flavor … the strawberry is more of a smooth, soft flavor, and again, I can only presume this is due to the rhubarb presence.  But I do find this to be an enjoyable tisane, one that is nice to sip later in the evening when I want something sweet and dessert-like.  I like this one … it’s not my favorite from 52Teas, but, I’m enjoying it.

Taster’s Review:

My confession is that I did not think I was going to like this tea. I am surprised to say that I do like it.

In my opinion this would be the ultimate in Valentine’s Day teas. Keep this in mind as Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it! I could see this being served for a traditional English Tea with tea sandwiches, and cakes. So yummy!

It is a bit on the perfume-y side, the bergamot is strong but it quickly changes into a sweet, floral, creamy, and fruity flavor.

Now according to the ingredients there are no fruits in this blend, however the combinations of the ingredients somehow comes across to me as fruity. Yes the rose does take its time in the limelight, but the fruit notes come over almost as strawberry somehow. Yet in other sips I taste something of lime or citrus.

The mouthfeel is heavier than I would have suspected but not too heavy, just full with a creamy finish that remains bright.

It is a really pretty tea as well.

I am impressed. I really feel that Fusion Teas got this one right. It may not be what the true Earl Grey lover is looking for but if you keep an open mind you will enjoy it. I like regular Earl Grey but I have to be in the mood for it. This is an Earl Grey that I could drink just about anytime. I also think that younger people would love it because of its sweet, creamy, and fruity like flavor.

Now I suppose I could see an argument for this tea having a different name. Just because something is flavored with Bergamot does not mean it has to be called Earl Grey. Earl Grey does not have the entire market cornered on Bergamot after all. Also this is clearly not a black tea.

Call it whatever you want Fusion Teas, I like it!

Green Paradise from Mark T. Wendell

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green

Where to Buy:  Mark T. Wendell

Product Description:

Our newest flavored green tea offering is a blend of select sencha style China green tea leaves, pieces of strawberry, raspberry, rhubarb and cornflowers. Visually appealing with its red, white and blue pieces contrasting the dark green tea leaves, this blend has a fresh green tea taste with a delicate sweetness. This blend makes a refreshing iced tea with interesting fruit notes in each glass.

Taster’s Review:

To the eye, this blend is really beautiful with its many petals and fruit pieces tossed among the long spears of green tea leaves.  This pretty, deliciously fragrant tea brews to a clear, light green color.  Some of the strong aroma is lost in the brewing, but it still smells quite enticing.

With my first few sips, I tasted green tea.  Not very much fruit flavor at all.  But as I continued to sip, the flavors developed.  Now that I’m about half-way through my first cup, I find that the fruit flavors are there, but this is still – first and foremost – a green tea.

And that’s just the way it should be.  I like it when tea companies recognize that we’re drinking tea and they choose to not make their blends taste like a kid’s fruit drink.  The green tea here is sweet and crisp.  It is light and fresh, like the sweet air of summertime.  And while the summertime slowly begins to fade as autumn approaches – I am happy to welcome the season of fall, but I find great enjoyment in this tea that seems to be a celebration of summer.

Of the fruit flavors, the strawberry is most prominent.  It is lightly sweet and juicy.  The raspberry adds a hint of tartness, as does the rhubarb.  I like that these flavors are subtle, because normally, I would shy away from rhubarb flavored teas because they tend to be a little on the tart side.  Not a bad thing, as I’ve really enjoyed the tart rhubarb blends I’ve tried thus far, but I seem to have a built-in, automatic response to the idea of tartness in a tea.  But because these flavors are a little subdued, the tartness does not overwhelm my palate.  The aftertaste is sweet with a berry tartness that tickles the tongue.

A really delicious tea.  This is a tea that I’d recommend to those who like a little flavor with their tea … and not the other way around!  This one is spectacular iced!

Tasters Review:

The dry ingredients smell Marvelous!

Most of these ingredients I wouldn’t normally choose in an herbal because I usually don’t care for full flavor tarty herbals…but…this one was so much different than the others I have tried!

Based on the ingredients and being able to see everything obviously when looking at it…and the powerful smell I really thought this would be tart, but, altho it’s quite juicy and fruity it’s more of a smooth and pleasant herbal and it just maybe because of the green rooibos pairing!?

Not sure…but what ever da.u.de did with this blend I sure do like it! So much so that I might just have to say this is my FAVORITE Fruity Herbal I have ever had…and guess what…it has hibiscus in it! BUT…it doesn’t seem to be bothering me!

I’m so surprised with this one!  They really did a great job on this!  It’s great both HOT and COLD!

Again…I just can’t get over how much I like this one (based on the ingredients and my previous attempts with other brands and ended up being not so good).

2 Thumbs Up!

Ingredients
All natural premium ingredients: Full-leaf Japanese Sencha green tea, raspberry pieces, strawberry pieces, natural strawberry and blueberry flavors.

Tasters Review:

This is the darkest infused green I have ever seen! I think it’s because of all the darker fruits in the blend…notably the blueberries! I can clearly see all of the ingredients and they are fresh, plump, and lovely!  The Post infused liquid color is truly unique and memorable!

Green Tea Heaven from Talbott Teas smells…well…HEAVENLY! The naturally sweet, juicy, and fruity taste PROVES to me that a fruit flavored tea can be done DAMN well without having to throw in Hibiscus to make it juicy and fruity! This is a Hibiscus-Free Zone and it’s awesome!

This is AWESOME hot and just as AWESOME if not a tad more so iced.  I currently have this rated at a 98 in my personal tea-log file but am highly considering changing it to a 100!  I LOVE THIS flavored green!
