Taster’s Review:

Oh wow!  This is really yummy!  The flavor of this Tropical Heaven Oolong from Kally Tea is intense!  I love that while the tropical flavors are strong, I still taste the Oolong.  It tastes sweet, fruity and creamy … and yes … heavenly!

The Oolong tea adds a touch of creaminess to the cup as well as a light vegetative tone and a very pleasant sweetness that enhances the sweetness of the tropical flavors.  While Kally Tea does not go in to detail about which flavors are in this Tropical Heaven … I definitely taste pineapple.  Perhaps some mango and/or papaya.  My first sip, I noted a flavor that tasted remarkably like peach, although that could have been the Oolong as I often associate the fruity tones of an Oolong tea to be very peach-like.  The fruit tones are very smooth and sweet.  Only hints of tartness just to keep the palate’s interest piqued.

I love how smooth this cup of tea is.  The fruit flavors are sweet and are washed in a creaminess that is absolutely delectable … it almost tastes like a flavored milk Oolong … that’s how creamy this tea is!  It’s one of those teas that disappear from your cup so fast you wonder if someone has been drinking the tea out of your cup when you’re not looking!  Before I knew it, my cup was empty, and I resteeped the leaves.  The flavors are less intense with the second infusion, but still very present and absolutely delicious – this is definitely worth the second (and even a third!) infusion.

A really great flavored Oolong – a truly yummy cuppa!

Taster’s Review:

Chai is on my mind lately with the change in seasons where I live, yet honestly chai was not on my mind at all when I reached for this sample from one of my SororiTea Sisters! I simply wanted something that would set well with my upset tummy I have had for the last couple of days, also something minty as I have not been really able to taste much either. Last night I was drinking some vanilla mint tea after trying unsuccessfully to enjoy some other samples. Today I grabbed for this and even though I am still a little stuffy I could smell such yummy aromas and I knew in that moment I could stomach it! So it got steeped.

This is not your typical chai yet it has many chai elements. One may think that they threw everything in here but the kitchen sink and thus may not really end up tasting like anything favorable but surprisingly it is wonderful. You don’t need to be sick, or needing to adjust to altitude sickness to enjoy this savory cup! They even put a little chocolate in there for the sweet tooth and the chocolate does come through nicely but is not over done. This is not a “chocolate tea” it is savory yet every now and then I get a little bit of sweet on the lips and a subtle chocolate taste on the palate.

The yerba mate gives you a nice kick start to your day without leaving you jittery or nervous, while the pu-erh is grounding and centering. I tasted the black pepper notes, which I always enjoy in a tea, the cinnamon, clove, ginger and other savory elements are all quite present but the mint is what seems to linger the longest in a minty sweet manner, as if I had just had a light candy mint. I also do pick up the vanilla as well. Truly this tea has it all and then some and yes at times the flavors get muddled a little as a true blend should but it is quite easy to pick out singular flavor elements as well.

If I was not aware that there were so many types of tea in this blend and I had to tell someone from taste alone what the base tea was I would admittedly be confused, but if pressed I would say mate, pu-erh, then black in that order.

For me, the best part of this discovery is that I have a new favorite chai. I have about three chai now that I absolutely love and will rotate in my stash all winter long.

Product Description:

Ingredients: black tea, cinnamon, ginger bits, cardamom, cloves, flavoring, black pepper, rose blossom leaves, vanilla bits, safflowers

Tasters Review:

I have been seeing SANDS OF THYME mentioned online by a few fellow tea freaks lately so when we were able to try some of the Sands of Thyme Teas I was more than happy!

I LOVE their shop name on Etsy!  I just have to point that out!

So far one of my favorites is their Chai Indienne.

It’s light on aroma but not on taste!   The spices are JUST RIGHT for me!  The cinnamon is a little bit stronger than the ginger.  The cardamom and cloves are in there too – as well as the black pepper.  I appreciate these specific ingredients not being too strong.   I can taste floral notes as well!  The rose petals are a nice touch.  The vanilla is noticeable in the middle of the sip and more-so as it cools.  I applaud the vanilla in this case – it helps with the other spicy spices and really added to the mix of flavors!

This is a good chai, indeed!
