Taster’s Review:

This is one of the most impressive Hojicha teas I’ve ever encountered.  The color is much deeper and darker in color than other Hojicha teas I’ve tried, and as it infused, the delicious roasty-toasty smell filled the kitchen.  YUM!

Of course, that roasty-toasty smell translates into the flavor, giving the cup a very agreeable roasted nut flavor.  It is a smooth, rich tasting Hojicha that doesn’t come across as too heavy.  Light in body … rich in flavor!

The roasted quality of Hojicha tends to give the natural sweetness of the tea a caramelized flavor, and that is no exception with this Hojicha.  It is sweet with a burnt-sugar flavor that is irresistibly delicious.  In fact, I am having a hard time sitting my teacup down long enough to type, I just want to keep on sipping!

Overall, this cup is very pleasant and mellow – perfect for evening, and since Hojicha tends to have less caffeine than most other teas, it won’t keep me up all night, either.  I also find Hojicha to be very soothing on my stomach (and my nerves), which is exactly what I need later in the day.

If you like Hojicha, this is one that needs to be on your “to try SOON” list!

Taster’s Review:

The first time I prepared this, I did so using the package instructions:  1 cup of steamed milk to 1/4 tsp. Latte Matcha.  It was good, but, to be honest, I wanted the Matcha flavor to be a little stronger.  I felt like I was tasting too much milk.  So, the second time I prepared it, I used a little more Matcha (not quite 1/2 a tsp.) and this was perfect for me!

The flavor is so rich, creamy, and smooth.  Yes, it’s vegetative, but, that’s to be expected.  This IS Matcha!  It has a wonderfully mild sweetness.  There is no bitterness to this Matcha, which I found kind of odd, because I always expect a light bitterness in the background.  Perhaps its the milk that offsets the bitterness?  I don’t know.  Anyway, for those of you who often find Matcha to be too bitter for your personal taste, try it as a Latte using this Matcha!  I think you’ll be surprised at how good this one is!

I have blended this using my bamboo whisk (a chasen) and I have blended it using my handheld frother.  Both work just fine, although I prefer the handheld frother for the latte.  It becomes more frothy and creamy – just like a coffee shop green tea latte.  One big difference, though, is that this one hasn’t been sweetened, so you can decide if you want sweetener in it or not.

I really enjoyed this Matcha.  It’s not only great for making a Matcha Latte, but it also is quite nice in smoothies too.  Here’s my recipe:

  • 8 oz. of yogurt or Kefir (I prefer Kefir, coconut Kefir if you can find it!)
  • Banana
  • 1 cup (or more if you desire) of frozen fruit of your choice
  • 1/2 tsp of Latte Matcha (or more if you prefer)

Blend until creamy smooth.  Enjoy!

Now, I warn you, this smoothie will not have the most appetizing color.  But it is delicious, and it makes for a very satisfying (and healthy) meal replacement.

This is a great Matcha – at a great price!

Tasters Review:

Let me start this review off my saying…I’m a rebel child.  I have a hard time following instructions.  Especially with my teas!  I like to do what I call a DOUBLE SHOT – twice the amount for the same amount of time.  I was really tempted to with this but forced myself into following the instructions the first time I tried Teanobi’s Latte Matcha!

Therefore…I did 1 cup of hot milk with 1/4 tsp of this latte powder.  It had a very pale aroma before adding to the milk and afterwards as well.  I will say that the milk/powder color is beautiful!   It reminds me of a “Grasshopper”.  You know like the frozen-adult beverage type.  This powder paired with the milk froths up very nice without much work at all!   All I had to do was stir!  There were a few small clumps which was more my measuring cups fault than this lovely powder and it was fairly easy to take care of with a few more stirs! No Problem!

This is VERY frothy and milky-smooth!  It’s creamy, too!  I noticed as it cools for a little bit at room temperature the flavor was enhanced slightly.  I could taste more of the ‘green tea’ come thru.  The green veggie type green tea that is…much like broccoli and along with the milk it sort of reminded me of cream of broccoli soup!  It’s quite FAB!

I wanted to try this with Almond Milk but I didn’t have any.   I used regular milk.  I am also going to try this without milk and try it with water instead just to see the difference!  And because I am a Rebel Child…will probably try a DOUBLE SHOT just for kicks!

I think this is a very good matcha powder product – I love that it was created with Latte’s in mind!  This is very nice!  And another winner from Teanobi!

Tasters Review:

I’m new to Teanobi and let me start by saying my first experience with this company was a very good one!  I started off with their Hojicha Stalk which is a part of their Green Tea Loose Leaf Section!  Teanobi specializes in Loose Leaf and Tea Powders!  Their website is easy to navigate and their customer service emails have a quick turn-around.  They have a great Tea Guide on their website, too!  If you have questions about storage or brewing – check out their website for education and options!

I really love the fact that Teanobi stresses the health benefits of tea as well as the culture of tea.  This information is well explained on their website as well!

As for this specific tea – Hojicha Stalk – here was my experience with it…

The Aroma Prior to infusing was a cross between toast (non-buttered) and roasted nuts along with a refreshing woodsy smell.  The post infusion aroma was more of  a rich toasted/roasted nutty smell.  I thought the aroma was very rich and it really made me crave the taste of the tea!

When I took my first sip of this Teanobi Tea the words that first popped into my mind for description purposes were…Woodsy, Nutty, Sweet, and Fairly Smooth.

With other Hojicha’s I have tried I always get the “woodsy” and sometimes the “nutty” notes but rarely together and even more rare – with other Hojicha’s I have tried – do I get the sweet and smooth.  BUT…this Hojicha Stalk from Teanobi has each one of these wonderful tastes all wrapped together!  It really IS the complete package!

And speaking of packages…Teanobi doesn’t skimp!  They really do give you the most loose leaf per package!  When I received my package it was jam-packed with Hojicha-Goodness!  Very impressive!

I must say…this is my favorite Hojicha Tea I have ever tried!  I really liked everything about this offering from Teanobi!

Another thing I would like to mention is that I did try 1 cup hot and 1 cup cold.  I have found that Hojicha’s are kind of hit and miss COLD but this one is very tasty cold, too!  Again…I would suggest this one to anyone looking for a good tasting Hojicha or if you are looking for more Green Teas to try!
