Sometimes you just have to drink a bagged tea and honestly when it comes to a bagged green tea I find this one ‘not too shabby’.
I tend to have this one ‘on hand’ for the Green Tea drinkers in my office. It’s a good ole standby. I haven’t had a complaint yet from those who have sipped on it.
Personally, my favorite way to drink this Organic Green Tea from Newman’s Own is to have it ‘on ice’. It’s easy to add natural flavorings to it, too, such as freshly squeezed lemon.
If you haven’t tried a bagged tea in a while – or if you are looking for something for the ‘grab and go days’ – give this a whirl. You might be surprised!

Gunpowder – Tightly Rolled Green Tea/Oliver & Pluff
It’s been too long since my last decent, straight-up gunpowder cuppa tea! I was digging deep into my stash and came across Gunpowder from Oliver & Pluff and knew I HAD to have a cup…PRONTO! You see, it’s been way too long since my last sip of a tea from Olive & Pluff, too! GOSH! What’s wrong with me!? That’s a post for another day and another blog!
In the meantime, here are my thoughts on Gunpowder from Olive & Pluff!
It’s labeled on the package as Gunpowder – tightly rolled green tea. On the website it’s also referred to as Pinhead Gunpowder. And said to be ‘Temple of Heaven’ grade. With a product description of ‘Lightly roasted and tightly rolled green tea. Named due to its similar appearance to actual gunpowder’…it seemed like a pretty standard explanation.
But the flavor profile? They say…it’s a combo of refreshing lemon and light vegetable. An excellent green tea for everyday brewing. Witness the “agony of the tea leaf” as the tightly rolled leaves fitfully unfurl to fully expand in hot water.
I say…I would agree with that claim for the most part. I have to point out that I think the natural lemon notes in this Gunpowder are of the more impressive I have sipped from a Gunpowder. That, I LOVE. I found the vegetable pairing was pretty sturdy, too. I would consider it ‘light’ but more of a 60/40…lemon…vegetable.
What I also love about Olive & Pluff is that you get a little bit of history with their tea. With this one comes the Colonial American History. They state – In 18th century British America, tea was an expensive, exotic import, first popular with more wealthy colonists, then with the middle classes as well. According to mercantile records, various grades of gunpowder tea were a common import to America.

GOÛT RUSSE 7 AGRUMES/Palais des Thés
I recently found this tea buried in my yet-to-be-sampled-stash. I don’t know why it took me so long to try it. I probably saw ‘fruit tea’ on the label and disregarded it while wanting a black tea. But in fact, this tea does have a black tea base. It’s a flavored black tea.
Gout Russe 7 Agrumes from Le Palais des Thés hails from a delicate recipe that combines black tea with the tart flavors of 7 citrus fruits: lemon, lime, sweet and Seville oranges, grapefruit, bergamot, and mandarin.
Many of us have had orange flavored black teas but this takes it to the next level. It wasn’t an Earl Grey type flavor – just a straight up citrus of all sorts type flavor. I really enjoyed it. It’s terrific hot but delightful iced, too!
Gout Russe 7 Agrumes from Le Palais des Thés…I give it two thumbs up. If I had 3 thumbs…I would give it 3 thumbs up!

Different of the teas produced in Georgia, Russian blends are the ones that have been drunk regularly in Russia since the 17th century. These latter teas, which in the beginning were blends of black Chinese teas, became more diversified at the end of the 19th century by the introduction of Indian teas at the Russian court, most notably Darjeeling. Since then it has been the custom to refer to all blends of Darjeeling and different Chinese black teas as Russian blends teas, whether or not they are scented with natural citrus extracts.

Poobong FTGFOP 1 CH Black Tea/Tea Swan
According to Tea Swan…Poobong Black Tea is organic production (that began) several years ago and now produces characteristic, expressive teas. They also state on their website that Poobong Black Tea picking is floral and delicate and says it’s perfect for a late afternoon break. I tend to agree.
The leaves offer a sunny yellow brew and the flavor is light and refreshing, with beautiful notes of peach and legume with soft, smooth, velvety notes and a slightly sweet, citrusy finish.
If you are into tea pairings – they also say it’s an perfect accompaniment for desserts or fruit parfaits.
The tea itself hails from the Darjeeling Region and the leaf type is a hand plucked, whole leaf. The tea I’m sampling is the 2017 – First Flush. And I’m actually just finishing up my personal stash of this wonderful brew. I will surely miss it when it’s gone. It’s memorable, that’s for sure!

Tangy Orange Carrot/Steeped Tea. . . . .
Tangy Orange Carrot from Steeped Tea isn’t really a tea, per say, but a tisane…one could even call it a ‘veggie tea’, however, there aren’t any actually tea leaves in this one, folks!
What it DOES have is: Carrot bits*, Apple bits*, Sea Buckthorn peel*, Ginger*, Turmeric root*, Orange wedges*, Pumpkin bits*, Anise*, Natural flavors*. *Organic.
I have had this one HOT which was pretty good, but I prefer it cold or ICED, instead.
When infusing I used about a teaspoon or two of the loose tisane ingredients and let them sit in the hot water for about 5 minutes. If cold brewing you can do that overnight, as well.
As for the flavor, the carrot, orange, apple, and ginger blend nicely. The pumpkin and spices are an afterthought but I’m glad they aren’t overdone, too.
This is a nice tisane COLD in late summer or WARM for fall. So, basically, a win…win!
