Raja Oolong Chai/Adagio Teas

As a chai, I expected strong cinnamon but didn’t know what to expect with a chai based around an oolong base. What I ended up with was a well-balanced blend which is a flavorful reminder of the fall.

When I opened this package, there was an immediate smell of cinnamon and chicory. I’m always waiting for fall to come back, not for the pumpkin spice, but because I’m waiting for the chicory to come back! The chicory and cinnamon balance in this cup is beautiful. My cup did have some flavor that settled to the bottom of the cup; so, if you’re not a speedy drinker, have a spoon ready to keep the tea mixed and the flavor evenly distributed. In addition to the cinnamon and chicory that I’m in love with, there are also hints of ginger and cardamom that blend to create the chai that anyone who enjoys Indian chai will recognize. These flavors are milder in the raja oolong when compared with an Indian chai, but this is a great compliment to those flavors.

Daryl Dixon Fandom Blend from Adagio Teas

This is a fandom blend from the wild west of build-your-own blends on Adagio Teas.  I couldn’t find an exact match on tea flavors and fandom styling on the website, so I am going by look and taste for this tea.  (Don’t worry there are a few other Daryl Dixon blends on the site if you need to get your fandom fix).

The character of Daryl Dixon kicks plenty of zombie butt on the Walking Dead, so it is only appropriate that his tea blend is driven by high-caffeine yerba mate.  This mate is the green (unroasted) variety, and brings a little fresh citrus note into the brew alongside all its usual earthiness.

I believe this blend also contains a flavored green tea that helps brighten up the lemon undertones even further.  As is appropriate for any gory zombie show, this tea also features a dose of Blood Orange herbal tea. The proportion of blood orange is small, so it adds a bit of juicy orange flavor without taking over the blend.  The brewed tea is green-yellow in color, with only the tiniest hint of pink from the powerful hibiscus.

This is a blend that packs a punch without being too bold or bitter.  When you need an unconventional pick-me-up, try brewing a cup like this yerba mate Daryl Dixon blend.

Turmeric Bliss / Adagio . . . . .

With Teavana gone people now need to find there next tea store. David’s Tea is very similar to Teavana but if you are looking for a bit of a step up try Adagio.

They offer many tea and tisane for the first time to the aficionado. For those who like to drink something healthy that tastes good give this blend a try. It has turmeric in it and not just as a flavoring or slightly sprinkled in a powder but as an inclusion!

Which really ups the health properties. It is pretty sweet, especially for my purist taste. It has a slight bit of tang kinda like a chai but nothing too spicy. Herbals are something I don’t tend to drink much of but they are a nice way to wind down the evening every now and then.

Citrus Green from Adagio Teas. . . . .

With the birds chirping, flowers blooming, and in general, the weather getting warmer, I’ve found that my hot tea drinking days are few and far between.  I’ve been craving cold brew tea and when I say crave, I mean I am gulping and sipping down cold brew tea with reckless abandonment.   All I do is set up either my Libre Tea Infuser with a healthy dose of ice and water with either my loose leaf/tea sachet  or I set up a giant mason jar I have with ice, water, and a larger ice tea pouch/reusable muslin tea bag with lots of loose leaf.   Both produce amazing results and are quick for this mom on the go.

The other day I was wanting more of a citrus tea but wasn’t finding one that really sounded like it would hit the spot. Hence where Citrus Green from Adagio Teas enters the scene.  As soon as I saw this lonely tea sachet in the midst of my loose leaf tea stash, I knew this was the tea for me.

I promptly filled my Libre Tea with ice, freshly filtered water and popped the tea sachet into the infuser.  Waited about 30 minutes and took my first sip.  Refreshing citrus green tea happily greeted me.

Refreshing green tea with a hint of a citrus note eagerly greeted me.  With only cold brewing the tea for a short span of time, the flavors were not allowed to really settle and develop.  But what I had, I did like. Crisp Green tea with hints here and there of a combination of orange, lime, and lemon.  I think with this being a citrus flavored tea, an addition of  a dash of mint would really escalate the tea and I plan to do just that the next time I find myself with this particular tea blend.  Even with the more subtle tea flavors, this tea hit the spot and I would have no problem picking some more up to properly cold brew and yield the fullest flavor I can.

Birthday from Adagio Teas. . . .

Do you enjoy creamy molasses/caramel flavors against a deep black base? If you do, well, I’ve got just the thing for you (INCLUDING SPRINKLES): Adagio’s Birthday Tea.

If I were to liken it to something — and you guys know I BASICALLY ALWAYS DO — I’d say this is a caramel fudge treat you buy yourself on your way out of an amusement park. You’re sunburned. Your stomach is jumpy from soda and roller coasters. You are holding a prize you’ve won that’s made of oddly slick polyester and crumbly stuffing. Your clothing is still damp from that splash ride. Your hair is fluffing out from your head in a dizzy halo. This treat melts in your mouth and your hand as you try to remember where you parked the car. You wipe your hand off on your shorts and stride off in what you think is the right direction, friends in tow.

It wasn’t the right direction. Where on earth did you put that car, already?

You’ll find it eventually. In the meantime, you’re enjoying the sweetness in your mouth and the streaky, saturated sunset.
