Green Cinnamon Spice from Fava Tea

Holy hot tamale, Green Cinnamon Spice from Fava Tea is a sweet and fiery brew!  The description of the tea says there are three different types of cinnamon in this blend and you can feel the heat and herbal intensity from all three.

I believe Fava Tea also has a version of this blend with a black tea base.  I find the green tea base appealing. The cinnamon is so powerful on its own, you don’t need the astringency of a black tea to compete with it.  The green tea provides a suitable, subtle background to let the herbs and spices dance center stage.

Beyond the cinnamon, this tea features orange peels and cloves which pair seamlessly with the cinnamon and make the brew naturally full and sweet.  This tea is perfect for lovers of cinnamon candies, or for those who like an extra sensory experience with their tea. Drank hot, the cinnamon spice feels hot and tingly all the way down your throat, providing a comforting warming feeling from within.

I know there are lots of specialty tea brews that come out in the fall and winter, but this delicious brew is available year round.  It is the perfect heat to help with a stuffy nose or sore throat. It is the most intense cinnamon brew to accompany your season dessert, like apple pie.  Feel festive, berry, and bright with a cup of Green Cinnamon Spice.

White Chocolate Tiramisu from Fava Tea. . .

I accidentally left this in the steeper far too long — which you aren’t supposed to do with green — but it’s still really tasty, so that’s a sublimely positive thing for us scatterbrained tea enthusiasts.

This tea tastes like white chocolate, nuts, and caramel. It’s supposed to taste like Tiramisu, but I’m not sure I’m getting that. Tiramisu, to me, mostly has coffee notes. That said, who cares, a tasty tea is a tasty tea. This is SO creamy and delicious and sweet. It’s a slick mouth-feel (ew, the phrase “mouth-feel” is horrible) that really coats the inside of the mouth.

I feel like I’m in a French patisserie with this tea. Everything is Marie Antoinette pastel. I have a tiny purebred dog upon my lap. My pinky is up. I’m with all of my friends. We’re wearing blush and having a scintillating conversation that focuses on fine arts and gossip.

We might enjoy ourselves so much that we oversteep the tea. But that’s okay. This tea doesn’t mind.

Roasted Almond Chai from Fava Tea Company. . . . . . . .

I was lucky to discover Roasted Almond Chai from Fava Tea Company thanks to a tea trade with fellow Sororitea Sisters, and now this is one if my favorite chai teas.

This is a decaf blend, so I find it most satisfying as a sweet treat to ease me through a rough afternoon or evening. This tea is perfectly both sweet and spicy. The dry leaf in the bag smells exceptionally creamy and a touch fruity, like marzipan candies. In the loose leaf, there are cloves, cinnamon, and huge cardamom pods, promising more spice in the brew.

Brewed, this blend is surprisingly pink, and I had a moment of worry: pink?! Is there hibiscus in here?  I read the label again and saw beetroot as an ingredient but no hibiscus. Taking a sip, I was relieved. The pink color was clearly from the beetroot which added a wonderful natural sweetness that did not get in the way of the other flavors.

The one change I would make is to rename this blend Marzipan Chai, instead of Roasted Almond Chai. There is not much in the way of tasted flavors or pure nut-like flavors. The beetroot and almond make for a blend that is sweet like a  cake with creamy frosting. This tea is driven by its candied almond taste, coupled with the warming spices of cinnamon and cardamom. Even without milk, this tea is so smooth and creamy, a perfect dessert. I will be stocking up on this chai the next chance I get!

Sparkling Pineapple from Fava Tea. . . . . .

Later last year, my husband and I took an INCREDIBLE honeymoon to Costa Rica. We saw sloths. We hiked through the cloud forest. We slept on a hammock in a rainforest canopy. It. Was. Awesome. But one thing that will stick out in my mind forever and ever til the end of time? THE PINEAPPLE. It was fresh and sweet and abundant every morning, and better than any pineapple I’ve ever had.

So you can imagine since returning, I’ve been on the hunt for any pineapple even remotely as good as our honeymoon treat. I haven’t totally succeeded yet, but it’s been a delicious pursuit. This sweet and fresh herbal tea from Fava makes a great, pineapple-y iced tea. It leans more generically-fruity than specifically pineapple to me, but it has depth of flavor that almost mimics a sweet wine– perfect for a non-alcoholic summery treat. I don’t pick up on anything sparkling, but their name suggestion has got me thinking that this would make an incredible mixer for some plain sparkling water.

Now, sipping this at home? Awesome. Sipping this on a hammock overlooking a beach in Central America? Get me on a plane, stat!

Fava’s French Breakfast Superior Black Tea from Fava Tea. . . .

This uniquely flavored black tea features vanilla, pineapple, and cherry.

The dry leaf smells like it was doused with caramel and is is quite pretty with its pop of red and orange amid the black tea leaves. The liquid color is a clear, dark amber and the smell of caramel is strong with this one as well. Vanilla and caramel are the predominate flavors.

The pineapple and cherry flavors do not present themselves at all but instead seem to make the sweetness of the caramel flavor stand out.

The black base hides well but I do get hints here and there that make me wonder if the base is English Breakfast.

Oh aren’t we a sneaky tea?
