Cucumber Melon/Culinary Teas. . . . .

Fellow sisters of the 90s, two words: cucumber. melon. Now, if you’re anything like me, you were just insta-transported to your bathroom cabinet stocked with matching body lotions, shower gels, and body sprays all smelling identically of summery melon cucumber goodness. And gosh darn it if this tea isn’t a dead ringer for that super-nostalgic scent. Full green tea leaves are perfectly paired with big slices of dehydrated cucumber pieces of this dry leaf, brewing up to a light and fresh, golden-y green. If you like your teas a little more savory, as-is leaves a perfectly fresh and delightful drink that is reminiscent of spa water, with more of an emphasis on the cucumber than the melon. With just a splash of lemonade, the melon is beautifully highlighted– and friends, this is like Bath & Body Works in a cup. It’s fresh and fruity and cucumber-y, with perfectly light and sweet honeydew melon undertones.

Who would I recommend this tea for? Frankly, if at any point you’ve had: a Lisa Frank binder, kept all your nail polish in a caboodle, or have squealed your way through a Bath & Body Works 75% off sale at least once in your life, add this one to your cart for summertime sipping. You won’t be disappointed!

Spa from Tea Vibes. . .

A few months ago, I found myself stuck in on a plane in Detroit due to a wicked thunderstorm.  The delay caused myself and basically the rest of the plane to miss our connecting flights.  There was a silver lining though, while on the plane I met this incredibly interesting lady who was a podcaster and we started talking about the blogs, podcasting and all sorts of geeky subjects.  Of course the conversation turned to tea and she told me about an interesting tea company that she had recently been introduced to via her podcast.  Fast forward a few months, that same tea company reached out for SororiTea Sisters to review their teas. I was ecstatic!

The first tea I tried was literally the first tea I grabbed from the sample pack.  Spa- a blend of green tea, mint, cucumber, and citrus vibes. This tea called to me in many different ways and I will admit, I’m a sucker for a cool crisp mint cucumber tea.  Of course as soon as I parceled out my sample from the pouch and into my tea pot, I had to stick my nose right in and take a big whiff. I was instantly enamored with the gorgeous pops of citrus cucumber aromas with a minty undertone. No lie, my kettle couldn’t prep the water fast enough. Brewed with water right under boiling and allowed to brew for right around 3 minutes, I took my first sip and I’m not going to lie, my heart sank a little.

Though I could get these bright pops of citrus, cucumber, mint, green tea. . . I also tasted stevia.  Unfortunately, I am not one that enjoys stevia in my tea and usually have found that stevia over takes the tea in general and I’m sad to say that is what has happened with this blend. Being one that typically doesn’t add any kind of sweetener to her tea, I went to Tea Vibes site and noticed that this blend did in fact have stevia.  Not a bad thing and there are some blends that stevia does seem to work, but for me this wasn’t one of those blends.

But I will say, thru the stevia, I can taste these awesome flavors that scream relax vibes with authority.  So if you are one that doesn’t mind stevia in their tea, I highly highly encourage you to check out this blend.  Their site is so appealing and their packaging is different than what I have been seeing for other companies, along with the unique palm tree being built into their logo.  So even tho this one go may not have been for me, I’m excited to dig thru the rest of the samples Tea Vibes sent us to see if I can find a tea that is more to my taste buds.

Cucumber Berry Lemonade from A Quarter To Tea. . . .

I can pretty much always count on A Quarter to Tea for incredible blends. For real– I belong to another tea of the month club that I just adore, but AQTT’s is the one that I pick up when I REALLY want to treat myself and have some super quirky and fun blends that I wouldn’t normally try out– enter this Cucumber Berry Lemonade white tea blend!

First things first: this blend came with REAL, DRIED CUCUMBER in it. You guys. I just can’t get over how cool it was to see a legit slice of cuke in my tea. The freeze-dried berries were slightly less plentiful, but the lemongrass was abundant. And was it ever noticeable in this blend! Of course I iced this one, and it was absolutely delightful. The brew was reminiscent of that ubiquitous “spa water”– you know, served in fancy glass dispensers with slices of lemon and cucumber floating around like they own the place– that stuff. It’s crisp and clean and fresh, from the cucumber. It’s lemony and bright, from the lemongrass. It’s tart and fruity, from the berries. It’s everything I dreamed it’d be by name alone, and more! It’s delicious enough cold-brewed with nothing added, but a tiny splash of lemonade to finish takes it over the top.

Again, AQTT knocks it out of the park!

Cool Cucumber Melon Green from Stylin’ Tea Blends

This tea would be as COOL AS A CUCUMBER except for I drank it HOT! That’s right…Cool Cucumber Melon Green from Stylin’ Tea Blends!

Cool Cucumber Melon Green from Stylin’ Tea Blends has flatter pressed and dried green tea leaves that are medium in length and aromatic in their own right but what makes this flavored green tea special is the cucumber! LARGE circular, thinly sliced cucumber pieces that have also been dried, of course.

If you LOVE cucumbers I’m assuming you will LOVE this tea! Lucky for me I’m a cucumber fan! Cool Cucumber Melon Green from Stylin’ Tea Blends is incredibly cool, hydrating, fresh, and sweet smelling AND tasting!

I started off with a hot cup of Cool Cucumber Melon Green from Stylin’ Tea Blends and my the end of the cup it was about ‘luke warm’ and I can tell you that I already know this would be delightful ICED, too! If you have had cucumber infused water and enjoyed it this might be up your alley, too!

I can’t wait to share this one with the other Sororitea Sisters to read their take on it. In the meantime I just might have to add Cool Cucumber Melon Green from Stylin’ Tea Blends to my favorite flavored green teas of the moment. #FanaticFriday: Spiced Cucumber Melon Green Tea from 52Teas

Because I am such a fan of 52Teas, I thought I’d take over SororiTea Sisters to chat about a few of their blends. Though this blend isn’t a new one, I finally had a chance to try it so its new to me!

Spiced Cucumber Melon Green Tea is one that arrived in one of my mystery grab bags that 52Teas offered not too long ago.  I’m a huge fan of their green teas but being one that isn’t a huge fan of spicy teas, I wasn’t sure what I would think. But I wanted to go out of my comfort zone a bit, so I steeped up my water to 175F, allowed the tea to steep for a few minutes, cool for a bit, and took my first sip.

This blend is a mix of green tea, cucumber, peppermint, lime leaves, ginger, black pepper, habanero pepper and natural flavors.  What I found so fascinating about this blend was how refreshingly cool the tea came across while having a spicy kick in the background. An odd mix of flavors but one that really works well.

Each sip yielded this gorgeous cucumber melon flavor with hints of lime and peppermint (think mojito style) at the beginning and the aftertaste is where the  spicy kick came to play.

A wonderfully strange mix of flavors but one that I’m loving! Such a refreshing mix of cucumber and melon with an air of spice.  This blend is still violable but I’m not sure for how long seeing as I just emailed 52Teas to see how much of this tea they have left. I might just have to buy the remaining inventory!

Spring is here and with that brings some fresh flavors – like Cucumbers and Melons! Last year’s Cucumber Cantaloupe Oolong went over really well, so I thought I’d like to bring the flavors of cucumber and melon together again but this time with a green tea base and with a touch of warm spices to contrast the cool fruit flavors of cucumber and melon (yes, cucumber is a fruit. I looked it up on the internet and I know the internet wouldn’t lie to me, right?) Then I added a touch of mint and lime to perk up the palate.

It’s sweet and gently spiced. It’s refreshing and it’s a little different. It’s really good.

Taster size is approximately 1/2 ounce.

ingredients: organic green teas, organic freeze-dried cucumber, organic ginger root, organic peppermint leaves, organic lime leaves, organic crushed black pepper, dried habanero peppers and organic natural flavors.
