Taster’s Review:

This isn’t the first time I’ve tried this tea, I’ve tasted and reviewed it previously.   And my adoration of this tea hasn’t changed since I wrote that review, but I do think a tea this good deserves another round of praise.

This tea reminds me so much of pecan pie.  The nutty flavor from the pecans and walnuts and the sweet white chocolate flavor combined with the naturally delicious flavor of the black tea somehow magically meld into a very pecan pie like flavor.  All that’s really missing is the pastry … and that is something that can be remedied easily by eating some tasty shortbread cookies along with this tea.

But even without the shortbread cookies, this tea is truly delightful … perhaps even more delightful than a pecan pie, because as much as I do enjoy pecan pie, I find that even with my very demanding sweet tooth pecan pie can be a little too cloying sometimes.  And the sunflower petals offer just the right hint of sharpness that cuts through that sweetness … it isn’t TOO sharp, but, it’s just right, you know?

This is a delightful autumnal tea, delicious any time of day.  I prefer it hot, but, it is also quite nice iced too.  Pleasantly sweet without any sweetener added!

Taster’s Review:

Yum!  This is so good!

As some of you know, once upon a time, I used to blend/flavor my own line of teas.  I have since closed that business because I came to realize that while I loved the artistic aspect of the business, I didn’t like the business aspect.  I’m an artist, and I find myself much more suited to drinking tea and writing about it than trying to sell it.

But I digress.

I mentioned my previous business only because during those days, I created a blend called “Sweet Caramel O’Mine” (yes, I’m a huge Guns N’ Roses fan).  I have had several people ask me since then about suitable replacements for this blend, and at that point, I really didn’t have an answer for them.  I blended that blend because I couldn’t find a caramel flavored tea that was caramel-y enough while still maintaining the tea flavor.  So I created one.

However, I think I have finally found a caramel flavored tea that I could suggest as a suitable replacement for that coveted blend.

And … this is it.

Yep.  Now, I can’t say that this is as good as my Sweet Caramel O’Mine (because there is just a wee bit of bias there, that was one of my babies, you understand).  But this is the first caramel flavored tea that I’ve tried that tastes so good that I would recommend it as a substitute for those who are missing my Sweet Caramel O’Mine.

Really, I can think of no higher praise for a tea than to recommend it as a replacement for one of my now retired blends.

The black tea is rich and delicious. The caramel/toffee flavor is sweet and creamy.  Together they create an amazingly decadent delight.

Well done, Element Tea.  Well done!

White Mint from Element Tea

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  White

Where to Buy:  Element Tea

Product Description:

If you love mint, then you’ll love this tea! With a combination of peppermint AND spearmint, your taste buds will experience a mint extravaganza. This tea is wonderful iced, too!

Ingredients: Bai Mu Dan White Tea, Peppermint, Spearmint

Taster’s Review:

When I first decided to brew this tea, I had prepared myself for a very minty-tasting tea, and I had expected the white tea to be completely overpowered by the peppermint and spearmint.  Fortunately, this is not the case at all.

While the Bai Mu Dan base is indeed a delicate taste, the peppermint and spearmint have been blended skillfully so that they would be in perfect balance with the softer, gentler white tea.  So now, what I taste is a medley of soft, fluffy white tea and cool, crisp mint flavor without feeling overwhelmed by them.

Even though I am sipping this hot, it doesn’t make me feel uncomfortably warm.  I find it both exhilarating and calming to drink.  I can feel it cool me as it hydrates me.

A very harmonious tea blend – I like it very much.

Eternal Life from Element Tea

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green & White

Where to Buy:  Element Tea

Product Description:

The varieties of Green tea in this blend will truly have you living a long life. This mild and subtle tea is the perfect way to start the day!

Ingredients: Green Tea -China Sencha -Ming Mee, -Pai MU Tan, -Gunpowder, -Jiaogulan, -China Wu Wu, Flavoring, Jasmine Blossoms, Red and Black Currants, Cornflower Blossoms, Apricot Bits

Taster’s Review:

I am really liking this!  I am usually somewhat skeptical when it comes to “flavored” jasmine teas – that is, jasmine teas that have additional fruit or flower flavors – because I worry that the jasmine notes will be overwhelmed by the other flavors.  But that didn’t happen here.

The jasmine flavor is delicate, but, I like that I can taste its sweet floral essence.  The jasmine doesn’t taste soapy.  It offers a whisper of jasmine that remains throughout the sip and then lingers on the palate in the aftertaste.  The lovely floral presence in the aftertaste is especially nice.

The combination of currants and apricot offers a delicious fruity tone to this cup without it being too strong.  The apricot is sweet and the currants give this a little tartness and a very pleasing depth to the flavor.

This is a very well-balanced cup.  The fruit and the flower come together very nicely and do not compete for the attention.  The green tea is a very light taste, but it lends a sense of freshness to the cup with its delicate grassy note.  If I were to offer any complaint about this, it would be that the Pai Mu Tan is practically indistinguishable amongst these other flavors.  Occasionally, I do taste a very distinct white tea taste, but, it is just a momentary glimpse, and disappears just as quickly as it appears, never appearing very often.

That being said, I am very pleased with this tea.  It is very flavorful and would make an excellent iced tea for these warm summer months!  It is equally as nice hot.  A lovely selection from Element Tea!

Organic Pomegranate Green Tea from Element Tea

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green

Where to Buy:  Element Tea

Product Description:

Satisfy your palate and sweeten the senses with this popular tea. Select organic Green tea blended with organic raspberries and essence of pomegranate will leave you wanting more.

Ingredients: Organic Green Tea, Organic Rosehips, Organic Raspberries, Natural Flavors

Taster’s Review:

This is a very tasty pomegranate flavored green tea.

The green tea base is a very flavorful green.  It is a light-bodied, vibrant tasting tea with a fresh, clean flavor.  It is somewhat grassy but certainly not off-putting.  There is a fair amount of astringency to the tea which I think highlights the tart nature of the pomegranate.

The pomegranate flavor is sweet and tart.  I like that the flavoring here is delicate enough that it doesn’t overwhelm the flavor of the tea, but, not so delicate that it cannot be tasted.  It has that tangy “tingly” taste that lingers in the aftertaste, an experience that is much like what I would taste if I were to pop a plump pomegranate aril in my mouth.

The dried raspberries do not contribute a lot of flavor to the cup, and I think they are mainly there for aesthetic purposes, but, I can taste a sweet hint of raspberry to the cup.  It is faint, but it is there – and I like the flavor that it adds.  I also LOVE that this tea is organic!

This tea is a pleasure to sip while hot, but, even better when its iced.  It has an exhilarating taste that is sure to quench your thirst!  I do recommend a pinch of sugar if you choose to ice this one – it will help enliven the flavors just a bit.  Yet another great tea from Element Tea!
