Detox from Lipton. . . .

I’ll be honest– when I saw these teas snuck into my most recent review package, I had two thoughts. First, upon seeing the back of these tea bags before anything else:

1) OOoooh– all my favorite herbs! Look at that cute branding. Also, GIMME.

And then, upon seeing the brand: 2) LIPTON? Really? Dandelion, nettle? WELLBEING?

I guess, just, well… color me surprised, friends. I’m not too proud to admit that maybe up til this point, I’ve had a little bit of a negative bias towards Lipton. Nothing against this North-American tea magnate, I just… well, if my choice is between bland bags at the store, and my amazing loose leaf tea collection, you can guess where I’m usually going to gravitate.

So with hopeful skepticism, I brewed this one up. And y’all? I was straight. up. delighted. The dry leaf is nothing to write home about– in fact, it’s pretty standard to what I expect Lipton to be. But the flavor is fantastic! These known detoxifying herbs (I mean, I’m no doctor– but these two are heavy hitters in any liver-supporting tea I’ve ever sipped) shone through without the bitterness they often can display. The grapefruit oil is beautifully balanced, enough to bring a bit of a citrus tang without being overwhelming.

Overall, this was truly lovely. A surprising cuppa that was perfect for a morning after a Thursday-night alcoholic cider or two (am I getting old? I think I’m getting old). Whether it did any voodoo detoxifying magic or not, it just felt crisp, clean, and refreshing. I think I may actually be picking up a box or two of this one to keep around for future workday sips– and if I see any more of these Lipton wellness blends hanging around, I’m definitely going to give them a try!

Detox Herbal Supplement with Green Tea from Lipton

What a name! Detox Herbal Supplement with Green Tea from Lipton. Goodness. What this tea really should be called is amazing tasting Detox tea that you’ll want to drink that isn’t overwhelmingly spiced with ginger and is one of the best grapefruit teas around!  Yes, that’s right. . . Grapefruit Detox tea. . .

I am one of those that is constantly on the look out for great tasting detox teas. Not because of the whole losing weight detox plan but because I have found that detox teas with spices like nettle and yes ginger, can actually help me feel better.  But so many of those teas make you want to just gulp the tea to get it over with instead of experiencing and really enjoying the tea.

Recently, we were asked to review a new Wellness line of teas from Lipton.  I will be 100% honest here.  Lipton is the tea I grew up on and still drink it from time to time at my parents house.  But beyond that, I don’t drink a whole ton of Lipton products.  So when these teas showed up at my door, I wasn’t sure what to expect.  What ended up happening, is that I fell in love with a Lipton tea!

Brewed up with water prepped right under boiling, I steeped this tea sachet for about 4 minutes. While the tea was steeping, I kept sticking my nose in the steam to get the wonderful aromas that were omitting from my cuppa.  Right away, you can pick up the grapefruit essential oil. Such a lovely fresh and clean smell. I couldn’t wait for the tea to cool so I could take a sip.

First sip in and my search for a grapefruit has been satisfied. This tea is delicious. Grapefruit and green tea are the major flavors you pick up and towards the end of each sip is this really lovely herbal finish.  There is a sweet, tart, vegetal, and herbal contrasting play each and every time you take a sip of this tea.

Super happy with this tea and especially with how this tea is in a easy tea bag form.  I was even happier when I was in my local grocery store the other day and this tea was sitting on the shelf.

Now I have a great detox tea with nettle and dandelion root along with a grapefruit tea that makes me smile.  I’m a happy tea loving gal!

Juicy Grapefruit from Dave and Solomons Tea

I am a grapefruit nut so whenever I see teas that I have grapefruit flavorings I have to try them out.  This one had a lovely mix of oolong and green teas with a citrus twist.  It was an instant, I have to try this reaction!

Since this is a green/oolong/mate blend, I went ahead and used normal oolong steeping parameters and was careful to only allow the tea to steep for about 3 minutes.  I loved looking at this tea. Gorgeous pops of color on a base of greens and darker leaves.  Just lovely.

Once I started drinking this tea I couldn’t stop. I thought this tea would be a soft gentle mix of citrus and lush buttery smooth notes but instead I was greeted with a somewhat smokey base with a citrus tang.  Completely different and unique. I can’t say that I’ve had a smoky citrus tea like this before. The grapefruit fit the blend perfectly. I loved that flavor mixed with the base. A nice change of pace to be honest.  I haven’t had a smoky tea in a long time!

After spending more time with this tea, every now and again I would get a sweetness from the floral notes.  I almost wish those were a bit stronger, but I’m still enjoying what I have. I can’t say this tea is one I would grab for all the time but I love the change of pace this tea has going for it. Definitely one to keep around for a bit and play around with. You have to love a unique base of green/oolong/mate tea with grapefruit loving!
