Taster’s Review:

Pomegranate Olive Leaf Blend from Simpson and  Vail is a blend I’ve had my eye on for some time. Simpson and Vail is one of my favorite tea shops. They are a wonderful company to buy from.  Their care and compassion for their customers shows in their website, newsletter, and  how they interact with their customers. I just love trying out their teas! They always taste fresh and crisp!

This particular blend was one I had my eye on for a while and I just had to try it. The blend is different. An Olive leaf and green rooibos blend mixed in with spearmint and pomegranate.  So just by the description alone, you can imagine a blend that totes notes of honey, sweetness, tartness, and mint. An odd combination to say the least but I have to say, one that works!

I actually cold steeped the tea in a mason jar so I could enjoy this blend as a lovely iced tea during the day and I can’t say I would try this blend any other way. The blend itself is a lovely sight that reminds me of wildflowers. The different pops of colors  amongst a green base makes me think of wildflowers in a lush green park area. Serene and vibrant. Which is a great way to describe this tea.

This tea is an unusual blend for sure but a wonderful sort of unusual. The tea has a subtle grassy like flavor mixed with a sweet honey like note and a tart minty finish. Like I said, very unusual, but one that I am digging. As a cold brew tea, this tea is refreshing, soothing, and just what the doctor ordered on such a hot muggy July summer day in the Midwest.

Pomegranate Olive Leaf from Simpson and Vail is just another wonderful example of their great fresh and crisp tasting teas I just can’t say enough about them!

Winter Wonderland from Simpson & Vail

winterWonderlandTea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green Rooibos

Where to Buy: Simpson & Vail

Tea Description:

“Sleigh bells ring, are you listening
In the lane snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland…”

A wonderful blend of green rooibos with cacao and cinnamon and flavored with Bavarian chocolate, cinnamon and hazelnuts. When we sampled this in our store we heard “Best rooibos ever!”, “A new favorite”, “Great everyday tea”. It brews to a golden cup with the delicious aroma and taste of cinnamon baked goodies (we were reminded of apple fritters). Smooth and warming, this blend has the more pronounced taste of cinnamon and hazelnuts, while the Bavarian chocolate is an underlying taste that rounds out the other flavors. Delicious in every season!

Ingredients: Organic green rooibos, organic cacao nibs, organic cinnamon pieces, flavoring, white and blue cornflower petals

Tea Description:

I adore and love green rooibos blends. I have considered red rooibos my arch enemy for some time but there is something fresh, soothing, and delightful in green rooibos blends.  I’ve had several Simpson & Vail blends but I have had my eye on their holiday blends for some time.  So when they offered a chance for me to review them, I jumped all over the opportunity!

This particular blend is a green rooibos base with chocolate, cinnamon, and hazelnut.  Um. . .sign me up!

I brewed this up at work and shared a cuppa with a fellow co-worker.  5 minutes later, we were each enjoying this treat.

First sip in and I was looking up and trying to justify buying more of this tea. For 2 oz at $4.25- this tea is a steal!

This flavor profile for this tea is this lush amazing decadent dessert tea that keeps you wanting more and more. My co-worker said it reminded her of apple pie.  Me-it reminded me of a slightly honey cinnamon sweetness with hints of the hazelnut and chocolate towards the end of each sip.  The more the tea cools the more hazelnut and chocolate become pronounced. There are subtle hints of a coconut goodness as well.  Such a great mix of flavors.  And just so good. This would be great to share and enjoy a cuppa with family and friends over the holidays. Another fantastic tea from Simpson & Vail. I really don’t think they have a bad tea to offer! Off to get another cuppa.  This is going to be one I need to have on hand regardless of the time of year! Looks like I’m going to have to stock up on this delight!

Taster’s Review:

I love my green rooibos.  Red rooibos- can’t stand the stuff.  But green rooibos I simply love and adore.

So the other day when I was going thru my oh so neglected tea stash I stumbled upon this delight.  This is one example of why I love Steepster so much.  I’m sure this tea came from one of my Steepster friends who wanted to share their tea love with me. Without that person sending me a lovely care package, I’m not sure I would have ever had this tea and that would have been a shame!

First off, the dry leaves smell so sweet and have a lovely lemon baked dessert fragrance.  I brewed this up like an herbal-212F-5 minutes and allowed it to cool for a moment.

Wow, does this taste good! This tea tastes like a lemon tart! You can really taste the lemon but it tastes more like a lemon pie filling.  Sweet and lush. There is also a tart like flavor that gives the tea more of a dessert quality.  This may not taste like a lemon meringue pie but it still tastes amazing! I even had enough left over to try this tea iced and I ended up with the same amazing results. The only flavor I was really missing was the pie like flavor.  The rest of them are spot on.  I was even able to get a couple infusions out of this tea.  I drank this tea to curve my sweet tooth craving that hits me somewhere between 2pm-3pm. It worked too!

I’m pretty impressed with this tea and I’m excited to see that I have more Tealish to try in the future.
