Ceremonial Grade Organic Matcha from Infussion

CeremonialMatcha

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green (Matcha)

Where to Buy:  Infussion

Tea Description:

This is the cream of the crop of Japanese teas, imported directly from Uji, Kyoto. Tea leaves used for producing matcha are shaded for 20 days before the harvest. This guarantees low level of tannins and unusually high antioxidant, caffeine and l-theanine levels. Such leaves produce top potency tea devoid of bitterness. This is the only Camellia Sinensis product that has stems and veins of the leaves removed. Slow, cold grinding using granite mills is needed to produce finest Matcha and it can take up to 1h to produce 30g of this unique tea.

Taster’s Review:

This Ceremonial Grade Organic Matcha from Infussion is absolutely magnificent!  It is so incredibly smooth and sweet!

The powdered tea whisks up to a beautiful, bright jade green liquid with lots and lots of froth that doesn’t disappear quickly!  It stays nice and frothy!  The green tea powder also does not separate quickly the way other Matcha can sometimes do.  It remained incorporated as I continued to sip.

The aroma of the prepared Matcha is sweet and vegetative … redolent of freshly cut grass in the spring … when the grass buds are still new and fresh.  It’s quite lovely.

The flavor is sweet and vegetal, tasting of sweet grass, but also of freshly steamed spinach that has been lightly buttered.  There are faint notes of delectable bittersweet chocolate.  The texture is creamy and smooth with no grit.  The sweetness of this Matcha is really enchanting!

The more teas that I try from Infussion, the more I am impressed with this company!  The quality of their teas is outstanding.  If you like Matcha, this is one that you should try … it’s an excellent Ceremonial Grade Matcha and I love that it’s Organic too!

Taster’s Review:

Before brewing this Lin Yun Green Tea from Infussion, I did some checking into my past notes to see if I had ever tried a Lin Yun Green Tea … and I can’t see that I have.  Unless Lin Yun is known as a different tea … this is a first-time experience for me!

The aroma of the dry leaf of this Lin Yun Green Tea from Infussion is stunning – it smells just like freshly cut grass.  You know those very first lawn clippings in the spring, when the grass is brand new and the smell is so unbelievably fresh and exhilaratingly clean?  Yeah … that’s what this tea smells like when its dry.  In contrast, the brewed tea has next to no fragrance whatsoever … with only mere hints of the vibrant grassy notes of the dry leaf, it’s difficult to believe that those leaves brewed this liquid!

But after tasting it … yes!  Yes, those leaves brewed this tea!  The flavor is delightfully vegetative … sweet and crisp!  It’s really refreshing; I can feel it energize me from the inside out.  It’s really wonderful!  If you’re one who tends to not like the strong vegetative tones of a green tea … then this is not the tea for you, but if you’re one who really likes that delicious veggie taste that is a little bit sweet and a little bit savory … you’ve really got to try this!  It’s a dazzling cup of tea!

I’m really g lad that I got a chance to try this tea … it’s was a delightful treat to not only be introduced to a tea that is new to me, but, also be able to try yet another wonderful tea from Infussion.  I’m so impressed with this company!

Taster’s Review:

It is so unusual for me to look at these beautiful pearls and not smell the jasmine aroma wafting in the air.  I guess pearls and jasmine have kind of become synonymous for me.  But these Long Zhu pearls from Infussion Tea have not been scented with Jasmine … they are pure green tea.

The tightly wound pearls began unfurling pretty quickly, and by the time I finished the second infusion I could see that the pearls were nearly open … but not quite (so that means more infusions!)  This first cup (containing the first and second infusions) is sweet and delicious, lightly vegetative but not bitter.  The vegetative tones fall somewhere between grassy and lightly steamed vegetables … there are notes that are distinctly grass-like but also some hints of a mild vegetable (maybe asaparagus?) that’s been freshly steamed.

I like that while this is a vegetative tea, it isn’t overly so.  It has a very crisp taste with a moderate amount of astringnecy that seems to become more apparent as the tea begins to cool slightly.  It tastes very pure and clean … a very refreshing cuppa!

Taster’s Review:

I do love a good Dragon Well tea so when Infussion approached me and asked me which of their teas I’d like to try, I decided to include this one … I find it so interesting that with all the different Dragon Well teas that I’ve tried from different companies, that some taste better than others … I mean, part of me thinks that if you’ve tried one, you’ve tried them all, but, that is absolutely not the case!  This Longjing Tea from Infussion is definitely one of the BETTER ones that I’ve tried.

The aroma of the dry leaf is very fresh, with a scent that evokes thoughts of something between freshly mown grass and seaweed.  The fragrance of the brewed tea is a little more delicate than that of the dry leaf, but, still quite similar to this.  It’s a very sweet, bright scent, reminiscent of the early days of spring, when the new green leaves and fresh buds of grass are beginning to form and their smells fill the air, and in these cold days of winter, those spring days are definitely a welcome thought!

This tastes so vibrant!  Sweet and leafy-green-ish, like steamed spinach that’s been topped with a drizzle of melted butter.  It is a mild and fresh taste, very soothing and relaxing … but at the same time, the green taste has an energizing quality to it too.  It’s one of those teas that I can imagine drinking any time of the day … if I want a quick pick-me-up, this tea will do the trick … then again, if I want something to help calm the nerves after a busy day, this tea can do that too.

A really wonderful Dragon Well!  I recommend it highly as a must-try for green tea lovers!
