My Peeps from The NecessiTeas. . . . . .

What do you do when you have a box of forty teas to taste and review? You hope and pray that there are some caffeine free blends so you can do some of your tasting at night! And if you don’t like rooibos, you pray that there will be some HONEYBUSH BABY!

And hallelujah, my prayers were answered! I don’t think I have had a honeybush tea I didn’t like and this one looks absolutely adorable! Tiny freeze dried marshmallows, pink sugar crystals dotted here and there like sparkling gems, plus brown sugar sweeten this blend, but the main flavor shining through for me is the honeybush base.

Adorable doesn’t cut it by itself. The tea has to taste good, too, and this one tastes like a holiday with a touch of vanilla. We don’t usually add sugar to tea in this house so there was a moment of hesitation as we tried it. But even with three sources of sugar in the blend, the tea is not too sweet. There really isn’t enough of it to turn me off. We made a whole pot, we are drinking a whole pot, and I don’t have to worry about lying awake all night.

Three cheers for My Peeps! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

Peeps from the Necessiteas

Two of our Sisters recently reviewed My Peeps from The NecessiTeas. . .here is the first one!

Springtime is historically the season for Peeps: those iconic, yellow sugar-coated marshmallow chicks.  The company behind Peeps has done quite a bit of branching out since those original Easter Sundays.  Now Peeps come in every seasonal shape and color, pumpkins and frankenstein heads for fall, snowmen and gingerbread men for winter, and more flavors and kooky combinations than you can imagine.

I’m partial to marshmallows, whether big soft marshmallows in my hot cocoa, mini marshmallows in my Lucky Charms, or marshmallow-coated snowball cakes– you name it.  And yes, I like Peeps too.  The Necessiteas captured the sweet whimsy of marshmallow peeps in this delicious tea blend.

This decaf honeybush blend is super jam-packed with strong vanilla, almost caramel flavors.  In both smell and taste, the foremost flavor in the blend is the beyond-vanilla buttercream frosting, meant to be ultra-reminiscent of marshmallows and marshmallow cream.  It’s hard to imagine exactly what flavors make marshmallows so distinctive, but the sugary sweetness with clean vanilla are a close match.  The honeybush is a great tea to use as a base, the leaves being gentle enough not to overpower the marshmallow flavoring.

Just in case the flavor alone wasn’t enough to entice you to try a cup of this brew, the loose leaf have mini marshmallows and pink sugar crystals to add sweetness and cuteness in equal measure.

Easter just would’t be the same without peeps. In fact, you could say that peeps are to food what ugly Christmas sweaters are to clothing. You know whether you prefer chicks to bunnies, fresh to stale, or plain to chocolate-covered. I personally prefer slightly stale pink bunnies! When it comes to peeps, you either love them or you hate them. Their sugary, marshmallowy sweetness is enough to make your teeth ache, and I’m ok with that! I decided to make a healthier version of my favorite Easter treat by blending naturally sweet honeybush with mini marshmallows, pink sugar crystals and organic flavors. The outcome? Same sweet, marshmallowy goodness, minus the toothache!

Marshmallow Assam from 52Teas. . . .

Let’s talk about campfires for a sec. (Stay with me, this is going somewhere.)

It’s a summer night. You’re sitting around a crackling fire with friends. Lightning bugs are buzzing around, filling the dusk with a whimsical twinkly glow. The smoky woodsiness of the fire fills the air, and you’re blessed out on late-summer good vibes.

And what else has to be there? (This isn’t an easy one, friends.) Toasted marshmallows, of COURSE. And what do you do when you can’t be living in this midsummer fairytale? You sip this tea, of course.

This Assam is bold and malty, as they should be– but it also perfectly captures the perfect, spun-sugar-vanilla flavor of marshmallows. Beyond that, it brings that delightfully toasted, starchy flavor of a toasted marshmallow straight to the surface (especially when served with cream) in a way that’s way more layered than just aspddinf vanilla to a tea and calling it “marshmallow”. 52 Teas has truly knocked it out of the park with this one. If you’re a marshmallow lover (or a campfire enthusiast, as I so clearly am), this one needs to live in your cabinet!

Marshmallow Krispy Treat from The NecessiTeas. . . .

I love anything marshmallow. Literally anything. Marshmallow scented candles, marshmallows out of the bag, marshmallow fluff sandwiches, toasting marshmallows in the toaster in my kitchen…if it involves marshmallow, i’m down! Anytime I see a marshmallow tea, I am sure to grab it. So, when I saw Marshmallow Krispy Treat black tea on The NecessiTEAs’ website, I immediately snagged myself a tin of it.

I was very intrigued by the fact that there were actual pieces of that rice krispy popped cereal and actual mini freeze dried marshmallows. In smell, it reminded me a lot of Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel by Tea & Tins, but that tea also contained caramel and this one does not. The smell is akin to those mini marshmallows that come in those hot cocoa packets!

This delectable black tea is oh so creamy. It has the world’s most perfect, rich, marshmallow and vanilla flavor. The aroma of the steeped liquid is literally vanilla marshmallows. In taste it is smooth and sweet. I could drink it all day long it is addicting! The marshmallow flavor lingers long after you swallow and my kitchen smells like I was toasting marshmallows! The rice krispy pieces themselves may have been lost on me or perhaps it lends a bit of a toasty flavor to the cup. Either way, I think the vanilla marshmallow pieces may have overpowered them and that is completely okay. I keep smelling the liquid before I take a sip, I am literally basking the gooey marshmallowy goodness! The black tea itself was smooth, sweet, and mellow which really mixed well with vanilla marshmallow flavor.

I have tried my fair share of marshmallow teas, and this one totally takes the cake. Absolute YUM! I would recommend this to any marshmallow lover.

Peeps Genmaicha from A Quarter To Tea. . . Take That Tea Name In. . .

That is right. Someone has combined Peeps with tea-or at least the flavor of Peeps with tea.

Peeps seem to split people into two groups, those that love them and those that despise them. I belong to the group that love them. I’ve yet to met a marshmallow product that I don’t adore.

Peeps Genmaicha consists of sprinkles, sencha green tea, popped rice, marshmallow root and a few other natural flavorings.  You just have to love the sight of this tea.  All of the lovely sprinkles adding a wonderful touch of spring to the blend.

As I steeped (170F water and used my Boreal Wildcraft-the WALL tea infuser)  this tea, I sat in awe and enjoyed the delicious aromas that were coming from my cuppa.  There was such a wonderful sweetness with a toasted note that I couldn’t get enough of.  When the tea was ready, I allowed the tea to cool for a few minutes and greedily gulped the brew down.

Think fluffy toasted marshmallows with a buttery rich finish. That is exactly what this tea tastes like. There is a subtle Peep noticeable flavor but I would honestly compare this tea more to a toasted marshmallow that you would roast over an open flame without any of the campfire smell. You can literally taste the ooey-gooey roasted marshmallow sweetness.

Right along with the marshmallow flavor, there is also this wonderfully addictive vanilla pudding note that is apparent in about every other sip. I find myself craving that flavor and wanting more of it.

Genmaicha has always been on of my favorites and to have that lovely flavor paired with vanilla and marshmallow flavors is just brilliant. I took down 2 oz of this tea in just a few days and will be ordering 4oz of this tea as soon as I can.  This is one of those teas that I literally infuse the leaves until they can not give anymore and promptly set myself up with fresh leaves to start all over again. And since  I’m using my WALL tea infuser, I just keep adding water so I have a continuous brew waiting for me.

Highly recommend this blend and this will be a repeat buy for me.   Here’s to hoping Lauren @A Quarter To Tea will keep this blend in permanent lineup and not just in her spring collection .  Peeps Genmaicha is that good.
