Taster’s Review:

This is awesome!  A real treat for the taste buds as well as the eye and nose!

The dry leaf is beautiful.  Not only are there long spears of green tea leaves in this (Sencha, perhaps?) but there are also jasmine pearls.  In addition to the two different types of green tea, there is an abundance of petals and blossoms, as well as pieces of citrus peel.  This not only looks beautiful, but it smells amazing too.

But none of that would really matter if it didn’t also taste good… and this does.   The addition of the pearls help to give this blend a really beautiful jasmine essence.  The jasmine is light and sweet, with hints of floral sharpness.

The green tea is a fresh, clean taste.  It is slightly grassy, but mostly what I taste is that sweet, exhilarating freshness.  It marries well with the lively citrus notes and the exotic jasmine flavor.

And as much as I’m enjoying the flavors of jasmine and green tea, the real star of this cup is the tangerine flavor.  It is sweet with just the right amount of “tang” to it.  Those tangy notes add a very intriguing contrast to the cup that is also sweet and floral.

I have tasted this tea a few times now, and I have to say that while it is delicious hot (and it is!) … it is even better iced.  It becomes pure, light, crisp refreshment in a glass.

And now through the 28th of August,  Daily Gourmet is offering of 50% savings on the Ovation Teas Summer Set of Teas.  This collection includes this thirst-quenching tea – as well as four other spectacular teas!  Don’t miss out on this special offer!

Chocolate Orange Bliss from Ovation Teas

Product Description:

Black tea blended with cacao nibs, orange peel, and safflowers with chocolate and orange flavoring.

Taster’s Review:

Chocolate Orange Bliss … sounds incredible, doesn’t it?  Immediately images of those chocolate oranges that are available around the holidays come to mind.  Yummy!

And this tea is indeed yummy.  The black tea is brisk but not overly aggressive.  It doesn’t attempt to overpower the flavors of orange and chocolate (and that’s a good thing because when you’re a chocoholic like me, nothing should stand in the way of the chocolate!)  The black tea base is very smooth and mild … and even a little comforting.  There is no bitterness to this tea.  It is lightly astringent which accents the tangy flavor of the orange quite nicely.

The chocolate and orange are powerfully represented.  The orange is vibrant and sweet.  The chocolate is rich and creamy.  The overall cup is delicious, very dessert-like.  I like that this tea is strong enough to be enjoyed at breakfast (dessert for breakfast?  Count me in!), and mellow enough to be enjoyed later in the day, and delicious enough for a mid-day respite when you just need to get away for a few moments of peace and enjoyment.  This tea fits the bill!

And, if that wasn’t enough to entice you, how about this?  Daily Gourmet is currently offering a 50% savings on five of Ovation Teas’ finest offerings, including this tea!  This offer is only for a limited time, so now is a great time to try this amazing tea – as well as some other remarkable teas with these tantalizing savings!

Blueberry Earl Grey from Ovation Teas

Leaf Type:  Black

Product Description:

Blend of Assam and Ceylon loose leaf black teas with blueberries, orange peel, marigold petals, and cornflowers with blueberry and bergamot flavoring.

Taster’s Review:

Wow!  This is great!

I generally approach variations of Earl Grey with great enthusiasm.  As most of you know, I love Earl Grey, and it’s always exciting to try a “twisted” classic.  Unfortunately, not all variations have been a success with this Earl Grey enthusiast, but I am happy to say that this is definitely a successful change-up for Earl Grey.

The black tea base is a blend of Ceylon and Assam.  It is a strong, lively tasting tea and it is a good, solid background for these flavors.  Because of the Assam, I recommend not steeping this too long.  I steeped for just 2 1/2 minutes and the flavor is perfect.  However, the first time I tried this tea, I steeped it for 3 minutes and it was a little bitter.  So, take care not to oversteep.

The blueberry is prominent in this blend.  At first, it was difficult to taste the bergamot, but as the tea cools slightly the flavor of the bergamot begins to pop.  The combination of the blueberry, orange and bergamot orange is deliciously fruity:  sweet, tart and tangy.  There is just a hint of floral sharpness to the bergamot.

This tea is absolutely delicious when served hot, but I think I actually like it better iced!  This is probably one of the reasons that Ovation Teas has decided to include it in their “Summer Set of Teas!”

You can also enjoy this tea hot when the night falls and the evening cools. Paired with some ginger snap cookies, this low caffeine white tea makes the perfect bedtime snack.

INGREDIENTS: Pai Mu Tan White Peony tea, diced peaches, orange peel, ginger, and marigold petals, with peach and orange flavoring.

Taster’s Review:

I’ve tried quite a few ginger peach flavored teas, and for the most part, enjoyed them.  But, I can’t remember enjoying one more than I am this Ginger Peach White Tea from Ovation Teas.  It is balanced so nicely.

The white tea base (Pai Mu Tan) is – not surprisingly – a very gentle flavor.  It is fresh and a bit like a breath of fresh air.  It would be easy to overwhelm the white tea with the flavors of ginger, peach and orange, but fortunately, this blend has been skillfully blended with a delicate touch of flavoring to maintain a sense of balance.

The peach and orange work very well together.  The peach is sweet, the orange tangy, and with the peppery heat from the ginger and the soft whisper of white tea, it becomes a lovely contrast of flavors.

I love this tea iced!  It is so light and delicious.

Green Tea Fruit Smoothie Tea from Ovation Teas

Tea Type: Green Tea

Where To Buy: Ovation Teas

Product Description:

Green tea blended with strawberry pieces, mango, pineapple, marigolds, and globe amaranth with strawberry and mango flavoring.

Tasters Review:

I tell everyone that I have FUN with my tea.  Some think that isn’t appropriate just like it may not be appropriate to ‘play with your food’…but I do.  I encourage it!  I like to tweak infusion amounts and times and sometimes ‘hand pick’ what I infusion from the loose leaf mix into my infusion basket.

Green Tea Fruit Smoothie Tea from Ovation Teas was one of those FUN Teas.

It’s FUN and Flavorful but natural and true.  I like this very much!  It’s a solid flavored green.  The first attempt I drank was hot and it was FAB…I think this would be just as good if not better COLD…The mango-straw-pineapple jive well together and none are too over powering.  It’s quite smooth which is rather rare for these flavors, I believe.

Green Tea Smoothie…lives up to it’s name!  See…even the NAME is FUN!  And tasty!  This is a real winner!  Be sure to check out Ovation Teas – they have some awesome flavors available and swing by our friends at Daily Gourmet for hooking us up with some RAD Tea!
