Lapsang Souchong from Little Red Cup Tea. . . . .

I have been upping my intake of Lapsang Souchong as of late. I’m not sure if it’s because of the cooler weather, change of season, or just because I’m craving it – but what ever the reason I glad I am. Lapsang Souchong from Little Red Cup Tea is the tea of the moment for me and I have been wanting to share it with you for a while now.

Lapsang Souchong from Little Red Cup Tea is a stereotypical yet top-notch Lapsang Souchong! It gives off the ‘camp fire’ smell you would expect it would. It has a rather loud aroma and flavor but I would expect nothing less from this gem of a company! I enjoy this because of its pungency. Because of its quality. And because of its character. It does finish quiet smooth considering how it starts out and I find that fascinating and I welcome it.

If you are looking for something for the change of season or just looking for a potent, smoky, flavored black tea – try Lapsang Souchong from Little Red Cup Tea – I enjoyed every sip!

Description

Our Lapsang Souchong (Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong, 正山小种) is amazing. We know, that’s a bold statement, and some will disagree. But Lapsang Souchong is a love it or hate it proposition, and we’ve given our hearts to this tea. This is one of our strongest teas, think bridge abutments or skyscraper foundations. This is our most pungent tea — we send it to you in a ziplock bag in addition to our regular packaging.

The black tea is redolent three distinct flavors at once — the black tea base, a hint of longyan (Dragon Eye, a Chinese tree fruit similar to lychee) and the pinewood smoke which is the tea’s most defining element.

Lapsang Souchong from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co . . . .

I used to enjoy a cup of Lapsang Souchong because of the deep, dark, smoky taste until I found out a former co-worker was ‘bothered’ by the ‘campfire’ smell so I then started drinking it to irritate them in retaliation for irritating me at work! Too bad that individual didn’t still ‘grace us with their presence’ here at the office because this one would REALLY set them off! I’m talking about Lapsang Souchong from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co.

What to do with a difficult co-worker? Sororitea Sister Tip #45521…”Kill them with kindness AND tease them with tea”. Lapsang Souchong from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co. is a great tea to tease with that is for sure!

This specific cuppa of LS is made up of Kent & Sussex’s Lapsang Souchong tea fannings and generously filled inside one of their teabags. I have to say that Lapsang Souchong from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co. is the BEST Lapsang Souchong I have had IN a bag to date! It’s strong, aromatic, flavorful, and of top quality (especially for fannings!)

Lapsang Souchong from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co. is taken from their 2015 Harvest. This company is quickly becoming one of my overall favorite companies! I’m curious about their other FIVE (count them, FIVE) Loose Leaf Lapsang Souchong Teas with neat names like Falcon, Crocodile, Osprey, Leopard, and Tiger (following the Lapsang Souchong) type on each label. Maybe we will be lucky enough to try them in the coming months! I know I – for one – would LOVE that!

Lapsang Souchong from Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co. is VERY impressive and I give it 2 MUGS up!

Perfect for Valentine’s Day! Heart Tea Goodness from Cup of Love Tea. . . .

I’ve been on a kick with flavored Lapsang Souchong’s as of late. Not sure WHY but I am. I can’t say as I have ever been on a flavored Lapsang Souchong (specifically) kick before. So this time around I want to share Heart Tea Goodness from Cup of Love Tea with you.

Cup of Love Tea is a subsidiary of Vampyre Tea Company so I was pretty darn excited to try it! Heart Tea Goodness from Cup of Love Tea contains Lapsang Souchong Black Tea, Cinnamon, Apple, Orange Peel, Hibiscus, and Coconut Tea & Pieces.

Dry – the aroma was more faint than I was expecting but once infused everything seemed to come to life! I could smell the Lapsang, the Cinnamon, and the Orange up front with hints of Apple floating in the background. The coconut was hard to pick up with the ‘old sniffer’ but it looked lovely in the dry mix! Heart Tea Goodness from Cup of Love Tea smells quite unique which makes me REALLY want to sip on it and FAST!

I listened to what my cuppa was telling me and I took a sip of this intriguing Heart Tea Goodness from Cup of Love Tea. The flavor of the Lapsang Souchong was in full force but the Apple flavors seemed to be right along side of it acting as a faithful sidekick. I could taste the cinnamon on the end sip and on into the aftertaste. Follow-up sips revealed the orange flavors which were juicy and delicious!

What was really interesting with this tea is that when it naturally cooled at room temperature for a bit I was able to taste some more fruit notes but they seemed to pop out more and become more juicy. Most notably the citrus! THEN…it seemed to end on a subtly sweet and creamy note – possibly due to the coconut slivers! I’m TOTALLY digging this Heart Tea Goodness from Cup of Love Tea!

Smokejumper Ginger from The Tea Spot. . . . .

Smokejumper Ginger…you’re FORWARD aren’t you!? Smokejumper Ginger from The Tea Spot has a LOT going on for only having 2 ingredients! It’s made up of Organic Lapsang Souchong Black Tea and Organic Ginger from Honduras.

If you are looking for a tea that is smoky and adventurous you might enjoy this Smokejumper Ginger from The Tea Spot if you like peppy, spicy, smoky teas! It infuses to a light brown…very pale for a black tea but then again I only used a little bit based on the aroma that smacked me in the face as I opened the bag. I usually use double the amount for half the infusion time because I like STRONG flavored teas but this one seemed to smell pretty strong to begin with.

Smokejumper Ginger from The Tea Spot smells like smoke and ginger. It’s as simple and easy as that. I’m not sure what else to say about the aroma because it’s pretty straight-forward. A guy who gets straight to the point – I like that!

My experience with Smokejumper Ginger from The Tea Spot ended up being real good one! It’s more smoky up front and more gingery on the back end. It switches-up half way thru the sip and it’s not a gradual switch it’s an immediate one. Nice play- Tea Spot – Nice Play!

Tasting Notes:

For an invigorating wakeup, our Organic Smokejumper Ginger is the way to go. This spicy blend of lapsang souchong and ginger root jumps right out of the cup and into the morning air. Its sharp ginger highlights and smoky backbone blend perfectly into a flavor you’ve yet to experience.

The black tea base has notes of hickory smoked bacon, so you’ll either love it or leave it. With a generous portion of ginger, this exciting blend becomes warming, spicy, and feels good on your throat. Because ginger is sought out for its health benefits, we love adding it to blends like Cold Buster and Climber’s High. Paired here with a smoky black tea, it brings to life a powerful new flavor combination: sharp & smooth, stimulating & comforting, a new adventure in a single cup.

#FanaticFriday: Lapsang Chai from Bluebird Tea Co.

We at SororiTea Sisters love all things fall! So today we are fanatic about fall!!

fall-quote

I’m not sure why I jumped into a Chai phase abruptly – perhaps it’s because Fall is finally here – whatever the reasoning I recently busted open a bag of Lapsang Chai from Bluebird Tea Co.

I’m always interested in teas that have that ‘little extra something’ so when I saw that Lapsang Chai from Bluebird Tea Co contained India Assam Tea, Lapsang Souchong Black Tea, and Chai Spice I knew I had to try it! Indian Black Assam AND Lapsang Souchong? Yes, please!

Dry – I could smell the Lapsang right away and then the chai spices. Wet – I could smell less of both but they seemed more even and equal to each other after infusing. Lapsang Chai from Bluebird Tea Co brews to a dark brown – just as I assumed it would.

Lapsang Chai from Bluebird Tea Co is a really nice cuppa! It’s spicy but not overly-so. It oddly has a smoothness it to that I wasn’t expecting but found comforting along side the spices. Pine, smoke, ginger, and clove join hands with the blended black tea base. I really like Bluebird’s twist on this chai! VERY Well Done!
