Orange Cookie from Fox Tea Club

This is my first tea from the Fox Tea Club, and it has such an enticing name: Orange Cookie!

This black tea is blended with cardamom, cinnamon, and big beautiful slices of dried orange.  In the dry leaf, the tea smelled like a sweeter chai, with lots of bright citrus and cozy cinnamon.  Brewed, this scent continued, making this tea seem like the halfway point between bright, citrusy breakfast black teas and warm, spicy, chai teas.

Brewed, the black tea base really comes to the forefront with orange and spices lingering at the back of each sip, and in the scent.  The black tea is earthy and robust, with a smooth mouthfeel that reminds me of a pu erh tea.

Maybe I just have a sweet tooth, but I’m not getting the cookie flavors in this tea.  I think it would pair very well with some cookies, but on its own it is much more traditional and subdued.  To make it more cookie-like, I would brew it with more sweetener and milk next time. If you’re not into dessert teas, don’t let this name discourage you, this might just be the well-balanced orange and spice black tea that you’re looking for!

Dried orange rind and aromatic spices will surely make this tea a favorite black tea to sip with good friends by the fire on a snowy winter evening. Hints of cinnamon and cloves balance the richness of the black tea. A spiced orange pomander in a cup!

Spiced Orappangele Green Tea from 52Teas. . . . . .

I woke up feeling my throat was an exploded landmine. What did I need, aside from a mountain of cold medicine? A tea. A GREEN tea. That’s HEALTHY, yeah?

Sure. It’s healthy as heck. I’m going to live forever.

I picked around my work tea basket and this one spoke to me.

“Hello,” Spiced Orappangele Green Tea whispered. “You have taken too much Robitussin. You should not operate machinery or respond to my voice aloud.”

“Why can’t I respond to you aloud?” I asked. Everyone in my office looked at me quizzically.

“Ahhhh,” I said, in my head. “I get it now.”

“Try me. I am the thing. I am TOTES the thing,” it said.

And it IS, guys. This is the citrus-sweet-light-spice concoction of your dreams. It’s a throat soother. It’s a taste sensation. It’s tasty enough to break the barrier of cold-tastelessness, but not so strong as to upset my delicate stomach.

(When I get sick, my stomach gets upset. When I am stressed out, my stomach gets upset. When I eat too much unhealthy food, my stomach gets upset. When I work out too hard, my stomach gets upset. My stomach is also upset by: virtual reality, strong smells, the sight of raw meat, flight turbulence, trying to read in the car, crying, fear, and being hungry too long.)

(I am a delicate flower.)

This flavor is juicy, but not fake. It doesn’t have that weird tart Jolly-Rancher thing that a lot of apple flavors do. The cinnamon/nutmeg also take this high-flying sweetness a little bit more down to earth.

I daresay this tea is sugar, and spice, and everything nice.

This tea isn’t available on 52Teas’ site right now, but I recommend keeping an eye out for apple mixes and spice mixes from them in the future. They seem to be nailing these really well lately.

Stay healthy, Sisters!

Orange Almond from The Tea Can Company. . . . .

I wanted something orange. But more than just orange. Maybe something nutty. Enter Orange Almond from The Tea Can Company. It’s a loose tea inside a sheer silken bag. I just LOVE it when I can see ALL of the ingredients!

On the bag it says Orange Almond from The Tea Can Company has Black Tea, Orange Peel, Apple Pieces, Almond Pieces, Cinnamon Chips, Rose Petals, Cinnamon, Orange Spice flavor, and Orange Flavor.

From the teas I have had so far from The Tea Can Company they have all been impressive with the aroma and flavor to back it up but I have to say that Orange Almond from The Tea Can Company was even more scented and flavored than the others I have tried! This put a smile on my face!

I was able to get 2 steeps out of 1 bag. The first one was INTENSELY flavored. I could taste the orange, almond, and cinnamon ingredients VERY well. The apple contributed to the sweetness but wasn’t overly distinct like the other flavors, however, if it wasn’t there I doubt it would have been as sweet. I think it would have probably been more of a spicier-cinnamon flavor. So I truly believe their was a method to their madness and I would have to say that it was a beaming success!

The 2nd steep was still flavorful but the cinnamon was knock down a notch. The apple seemed to shine more in the 2nd steep and had more of a personality of its own.

This was a MIGHTY flavored black tea that I enjoyed VERY much! If you like orange, spice, and nuts – give this one a whirl!
