Super Starling’s 8 Hanukkah Requests For The Sky-Mensch

Every Hanukkah, I always say things like “I have everything I need in my family and friends.” I also say things like “I am against consumer culture,” and “Your presence is my present.”
Meanwhile, I am hoarding a gargantuan, tear-stained wish list behind my back.
Here, in the safety of my Sisters, I present to you:
Eight Tea-Related Hanukkah Gifts I Would Like From The Sky Mensch.
All are from Etsy, because it’s the best site for crafty anti-establishment ogling ever.
Evening 1: A British wax seal with a teacup & owl? Could this necklace be more Harry Potter? It must be upon my body post-haste.
Evening 2: I should probably wean down my mug collection, not add to it… But this one stands on three feet (neat!) and has a cute lace pattern!
Evening 3: How am I going to take my new mug to and fro? A teacup holster, obviously. Sometimes you just need to quick-draw a cuppa. I’ve literally never had a gun situation; I have a tea situation at least once a day.
Evening 4: A kettle bangle. Though Alex and Ani has cupcakes, they do not have a teapot or kettle. This is a grave oversight that Etsy has solved.
Evening 5: A dog drinking matcha. Obviously this belongs in my kitchen.
Evening 6: A teacup statement necklace. Whether that statement is “I border on hipster” or “I have discerning taste in beverages” is up to you.
Evening 7: This Alice in Wonderland skirt. I have no idea how we made it so far into this post without a single Alice in Wonderland mention. This is probably a record. A-line skirts look really cute with my body type (or, actually, EVERY body type). I’d wear this with a big sweater and combat boots. It would be adorably 1990s Hot Topic. I’d cherish every moment.
Evening 8: A pin. I couldn’t narrow this final one down, so I give you my final contenders: skull mug, corgi, and “I make therefore I am.” I will accept all three if it comes down to that.
Be good to me, this year, Sky-Mensch! I’d dig it!

Holiday Gift Idea Alert! November’s Tea Box Express

If you have that person on your list that you want that special unique item for and they just happen to be a tea drinker (of any kind!), I highly recommend thinking about sending them a gift from Tea Box Express.

Tea Box Express offers amazing curated boxes that feature teas, tea accessories, tea trinkets and different snacks to go along with the tea. Basically, each month you receive an instant tea party. I just love this box. Yes, it is a bit pricey when you first look at it, but the value of what you are getting is typically double if not more each month. This month alone, the box featured a tea accessory that I’ve had my eye on for some time and that tea accessory typically sells for $18 without shipping or taxes. This box is definitely a wonderful value and one that is quite memorable to boot!

November’s box had so many amazing treats! A gorgeous leaf shaped shortbread cookie, a Tea Bling, two different kinds of tea from Nunshen, a chocolate treat, and these awesome flavored agave pouches-pumpkin flavored and caramel from Pura.  I was quite pleased and couldn’t wait to dig in.

Let’s start with the My Tea Bling.  This is the accessory that I’ve had my eye on for some time. My Tea Bling is a clip that you use when you are drinking any kind of bagged tea to give your tea a bit of pizzazz-there is a lovely disc full of sparkles at the end of the clip. I use this all the time when I’m at work and am so happy to have one. I’ve received a lot of compliments on my this sparkling accessory.  I just use those tea filters you can pick up pretty much anywhere, make my own tea bags, ad attach this as a nice weight to keep everything where it needs to be.   (Mug Cozy featured below is from Nandy’s Nook)

An oolong and chai tea were the offerings for the tea part of the box. They came from Nunshen, a company I hadn’t heard of before but one I’m now actively checking out.  The tea was a bagged tea (which worked perfectly with my new Tea Bling) and we were sent a few oolong tea bags and chai.  I wasn’t crazy originally with the idea of a bagged chai tea but after having the tea, I’m addicted.

The chai bagged tea packs all of those lovely chai flavors without the spices being overwhelming to the point where you have to add milk or sugar.  The tea was pleasantly balanced and was a great tea for the afternoon when I needed that pick me up to keep going.

The oolong offered was also quite delicious and one that I found myself searching my bag for to see if I had anymore.  Smooth and subtle with those familiar oolong roasted tones. . .another great afternoon treat. I think I favored this tea more than the chai but that’s just because I’m partial to oolong.  Plus this oolong tasted delicious with both the cookie and the chocolate candy treat.

Flavored agave (from Pura.mx) is something I never had really thought about checking out but after enjoying the caramel and pumpkin flavored pouches included. .  .I need to have a constant supply of this on hand.  Both the Pumpking and Caramel were amazing in tea lattes and added that special kick that typically you can only get in coffee houses.

So many wonderful treats, trinkets, and goodies all packed into this box.  Any tea drinker or enthusiast would love this box. Really great gift idea for anybody on your list.  My family loves enjoying all of the treats together and we always have a family tea party with the box.  (Pics of the cookie and chocolate treat-don’t they just look delicious!)

I really can’t wait to see what we receive in the next box!

Glass Tea Holder & Crystal Glass AKA Podstakannik #VeganMoFo2016

Today I have a VERY SPECIAL Product Review for you that is LONG OVER DUE! It’s this beautiful Glass Tea Holder & Crystal Glass – also known as – Podstakannik and it is from Russian Tea Time. For the Vegan MoFo prompt, today is all about Food Gifts. But since we are doing all of our Vegan MoFo posts with a twist we figured we will do a Tea Gift version!

I can’t say as I have ever had any other Tea Ware like this before! I’ve cherished it ever since it came in the mail! It’s a Classic Tea Holder with Cut Crystal Glass. The etched cut crystal is very exquisite! I feel like I can drink tea like a royal and be part of the Russian Tea Tradition! Of course I had to study up on Russian Tea Traditions while enjoying this glass and glass tea holder. Yes, indeedy! This is a two-piece tea ware set, folks, and I LOVE it!

Did you know that “Podstakannik” literally means “thing under the glass”? Now THIS is my kind of history! Literal and to the point without being overly fancy!

The holder is most commonly made out of metal. The primary purpose is to be able to hold a very hot glass of tea which is usually consumed right after it is brewed. Fabulous! Because this is the way I LOVE to drink my tea more often than not!

According to Wiki – Podstakanniks appeared in Russian tea culture in the late 18th century. That’s when drinking tea became common in Russia. Soon after they became not just practical utensils, but also works of art, just like samovars that were used for boiling water. Expensive podstakanniks for the rich, well-to-do, and elite were made of silver but were not very practical since they would get quite hot very quickly due to the high thermal conductivity of silver. By the 20th century, podstakanniks became very widespread. They were found to be extremely useful on railroads, as tea was served in moving carriages that were shaking. A bare glass was more likely to fall, scalding people with hot tea. Enter these beautiful works of art and tea ware

I absolutely LOVE my Glass Tea Holder & Crystal Glass – also known as – Podstakannik and it is from Russian Tea Time. And for just $24.99 – I – for one – think it’s totally worth it! It’s durable, versatile, a historical conversation piece, and lovely to look at AND USE!

Today is our last Vegan MoFo post. We hope you enjoyed all of the fun posts. We had a blast creating them.  We will have some more fun holiday posts coming soon including the 12 days of Christmas from 52Teas and possibly even a rundown of what is in our favorite tea advent calendars!

Homestead Peach from Winterwoods Tea, part of Amoda’s Tea Box #VeganMoFo2016

Today’s prompt for Vegan MoFo 2016 is Multi-color. And with today’s tea, I think that fits perfectly. This tea is just gorgeous with all of the different color pop.  Truly a multi color tea if I have to say so myself!

The tea of the moment here at Sororitea Sisters is Homestead Peach by Winterwoods Tea which was part of our Amoda Box. Homestead Peach by Winterwoods Tea is an herbal blend consisting of (mostly) organic ingredients…strawberry leaf, dried peaches, hibiscus, lemon peel, orange peel, rose hips, and peach extract.

homestead-peach2I was surprised at the more laid-back, mellow aroma that this herbal tisane had. It’s wasn’t overpowering. It was subtly peach and citrus. I absolutely LOVED the fact that the peach FLAVOR of this was REAL. Not fake and/or chemically. I also LOVED that there was hardly any hibiscus in there. There seemed to be JUST ENOUGH to give it a little color in the cup and end-sip pucker on the tongue.

Homestead Peach by Winterwoods Tea was mouth wateringly (YES, I made that end in “LY”) tasty and gently flavored. I enjoyed this hot but even more cold. Homestead Peach by Winterwoods Tea is a fantastic herbal!

Just another wonderful reason why signing up for Amoda’s monthly tea box is the perfect way to enjoy teas you may have never even thought about trying or knew about. Perfect for that tea enthusiast on your holiday shopping list!

CervanTea’s Tea Blend – Man of La ManChai – DonQuixoTea from Novel Teas

The tea of many names! CervanTea’s Tea Blend – Man of La ManChai – DonQuixoTea from Novel Teas! Novel Teas says this is their delicious and adventurous brew of organic and traditional chai spices including red cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, and the root of ginger. It is a full bodied tea experience. I would have to agree. This is a solid chai!

tea-pouch-don-quixotea-placeholder_1024x1024It’s not too over the top but it’s not too weak in the spice department either. It’s JUST RIGHT. The cinnamon, cardamom, pepper, and ginger are all equally wonderful. The black tea base was of medium strength and sang in unison with the spices. CervanTea’s Tea Blend – Man of La ManChai – DonQuixoTea from Novel Teas was pretty impressive and a solid chai to have on hand for when you are craving it or to share with friends.

And speaking of sharing with friends there is a matching tea tin from this company! The perfect partner to CervanTea’s Tea Blend – Man of La ManChai – DonQuixoTea from Novel Teas.

Taste and share the great adventure of Miguel de Cervan Teas. NovelTeas’ spicy black chai is an invigorating ode to  western literature’s favorite knight errant, Don QuixoTea™ and this tea was inspired by the first modern novel by Spanish author Miguel Cervantes Don Quixote of La Mancha. Their organically-spiced blend makes for a delectable first addition to anyone’s NovelTeas Library. They encourage book-lovers and tea-lovers alike and take up your arms to a cup of their traditional organic chai spices.
