Taster’s Review:

I have a serious sweet tooth.  But I also know that I shouldn’t eat too many sweets, because it isn’t good for me, my teeth, or my waistline.  But those sweet treats are so hard to resist!  If you’ve a sweet tooth like me, here’s what I recommend to help keep those craving at bay:  stock up on flavored Matcha like this English Toffee Matcha.  It really curbs the craving for something sweet and chocolate-y because it TASTES like a liquified English Toffee bar, but, it doesn’t have all the fat and calories of the candy bar.

Seriously!  All that’s missing is the crunch of the toffee bar!

I prepared this Matcha the way I would normally, using water, but instead of adding all the water I would for my serving, I held off on about 1 – 2 teaspoons of water and instead added about that much of half & half (that’s all I have in the fridge right now!) and the result is a latte-ish bowl of Matcha that is sweet and delicious and very dessert-like!

I taste the buttery rich, caramel-y toffee, with nutty notes and hints of chocolate.  This, together with a bit of sweet Matcha flavor – and you’ve got something truly YUM that is also good for you!  How do you go wrong with that?

The only thing that I can find to complain about with this Matcha is that it disappeared too quickly from my bowl.

Taster’s Review:

I am not a Dr. Who fan … and I am sure that this is only because I’ve not taken the time to become one.  But I am a fan of 52Teas, as many of you are probably well aware, and I’ve really enjoyed his popcorn flavored teas of the past.  This Weeping Angel Tea from 52Teas, which promises a buttered toffee caramel corn flavor … well, I was pretty sure that this tea was going to earn a solid YUM from me.

And … oh man!  I was right.  This is seriously YUMMY!

This is one of those teas that I take a little sip of and as the flavors wash over my palate, my eyes roll back in delight.  My first few sips, I enjoyed plain – with no additions – and it was absolutely sumptuous.  Sweet and toffee-caramel-y delicious.  But, I found myself missing something … where was the popcorn taste?  Then I added about half a pinch of salt and the popcorn flavors emerged.  Yeah, I know the idea of adding salt to tea may sound weird to some of you, but, with this tea, you’ve got to try it!  As I said, I added about half a pinch, and this is enough salt to give it a hint salty-sweet taste and accentuate the popcorn notes without overwhelming the cup with salt.  I have a large mug, I’d recommend even less than half a pinch if your teacup is smaller than 12 ounces.

The black tea is prominent – as it should be! – and it offers a pleasingly smooth flavor with hints of earthiness.  I like the way the richness of the black tea complements the buttery rich toffee and caramel notes.  The popcorn comes through nicely now that I’ve added the aforementioned salt, and it adds an interesting contrast to the sweetness of the toffee and caramel.  It is a very enjoyable savory element.

But the real stars of this cup are the sweet toffee and caramel … I taste creamy butter and burnt sugar.  It is sweet and very palate pleasing!

Yep … it’s a solid YUM from me on this one.

Taster’s Review:

I was excited to try this tea because I have heard of The Rabbit Hole Tea Bar before. I am expecting some teas from them from a trade partner in Australia! When I saw this in a box my Sororitea Sister Anne sent me I squealed!

The oolong flavor is mellow, creamy, and nutty. It is a light oolong. The toffee flavor is excellent! The apple is well done and there is absolutely not trace of a chemical flavor in this cup. Everything tastes perfectly natural and organic. The three flavors meld perfectly into a refreshing, creamy, lightly sweet, fruity cup.

The longer the tea cools the more pronounced the flavors become – a perfect tea for icing or cold brewing!

I have to say – being this is my first experience with teas from The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar, I am impressed! Now I am even more so looking forward to my trade with my Australian Steepster friend! And I mean, come on, what a cool name for a tea bar!

I love it when a tea blender can not only get an amazing tea organically, but when the tea base itself is allowed to shine, yet the flavors are still very present and the tea taste like its name sake! This is a totally winning blend.

Taster’s Review:

Yum!  Toffee!

This is really a lovely blend.  I don’t think I’ve had a white tea flavored with toffee before, and these two elements go together surprisingly well.

The white tea is gentle and sweet, with a mild, fresh taste that is reminiscent of the taste that is in the air after the hay and alfalfa fields have been cut.  (Yes, I lived on a ranch in my youth)  The tea tastes light and airy, with a note of vegetation and a hint of hay.  The warm notes of the hay together with the sweet notes of the toffee is a very interesting flavor.  It’s almost smoky, but it’s a very mellow smoked note.  Perhaps toasty is a better way to describe this flavor, with subtle wisps of smoke, like the flavor you might get if you were to roast nuts over an open campfire.

Which leads me to the nutty flavor that I taste.  It is a deep, delicious nutty tone, which makes me think of the center of a toffee candy bar, you know how there are bits of nuts in that toffee?  Yes, that’s what I taste:  delicious, cruncy roast nuts!  It goes perfectly with the sweet, caramelized toffee flavor.

This is a very cozy tasting tea, something you’d want to curl up and sip on a cold autumn afternoon (like today!)   I like that it offers a pleasing sweetness – no additions needed – and I like the mellow attitude of this tea.  A sweet, gentle indulgence!

Creamy Toffee from Kaleisia Tea

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Tea Description:

This caramel and black tea blend delivers a bold and robust brew.

Taster’s Review:

I’ve often said that my three favorite “flavors” for tea are chocolate, bergamot and jasmine (not necessarily in that order).  But if I were to list my four favorite flavors, I think caramel would be the fourth, only narrowly missing the mark as one of the top three.  In fact, I think there is a part of me that probably prefers caramel flavored tea better than chocolate flavored tea because the sweetness of the caramel seems to go so perfectly with the flavor of tea (especially black tea) but the chocoholic in me won’t let caramel over-ride the chocolate.  It’s an internal battle that I must contend with daily.

So, when I found this tea that promised me a creamy, caramel-y toffee flavor with a robust black tea, I couldn’t resist … I had to try it!

And this tea does deliver what it promised!  This cup is rich and delicious, with lots of sweet, caramel-y flavor.  The black tea is a good, solid black tea – perhaps not the most robust tea I’ve ever tasted, but, it provides a good background for the toffee flavor.  I like that it is sweet and creamy without additions, however, if you wish to enhance the creaminess a bit, try adding a splash of milk or cream.

This is the first tea that I’ve tried from Kaleisia, and I’m quite pleased with what I’ve tasted.  It makes a delectable dessert tea, and even a nice breakfast tea … for those of us who like to have our dessert first thing in the morning!
