Maple Cheesecake Tie Guan Yin from 52Teas . . . . .

This tea makes me want to use hip words like “yaaaaaaaaaaassss” and “slaaaay, queen.” It makes me want to actually USE my SnapChat account so I can post a picture of my mug and put, like, an overjoyed smiley on it and some sort of catchy phrase underneath. Maybe “tea on fleek”?

This tea comes in cute rolled-up little balls that remind me of hedgehogs when they’re all snuggled in. When you get them in the water, they majestically unfurl into pretty leaves.

The resulting taste is a vegetal, sweet, syruppy, ever-so-slightly nutty flavor. I’m not really getting cheesecake from it, but I’m definitely getting maple.

The tea’s gestalt is like maple dressing on a really tasty salad. And if maple salad dressing does not exist, I would like to claim credit for the idea and become a zillionaire off it.

(leaves) (returns) I just used Google. Someone’s already thought of it.

That’s okay. It was a good moment of optimism. I’ll just have to keep hoping my million-dollar idea is out there. Until then, I’ll happily sip down what remains of this sample.

Though this tea is not available on 52Teas’ site at the moment, you can achieve something similar here.

Happy healthy eating, Internet!

#MusicandTeaMonday: Mango Rose Daiquiri from 52Teas

“What’s a daiquiri?”
A daiquiri is a concoction involving rum, sugar, and citrus.
So this tea means I’m supposed to be on the lookout for:
1) Mango
2) Rose
3) Rum
4) Citrus
5) Sweetener
When I drink this, I mostly just get rose on a black base. I have no idea what happened to the other ingredients. Which is okay, actually, because mango isn’t my favorite, and I have no concept of how “rum” would translate into a tea.    In an effort to get the other flavors to emerge, I tried this cold afterward. It tasted like soap. (I think I associate rose with soap.)
In summary: if you like roses and only roses mixed with black tea, drink this hot.
For bonus points, put on Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose” in the background.
Meditate on the social milieu that allowed 1995’s Batman Forever to exist.
Think back to the time that Val Kilmer was totally smooch-worthy. Also meditate on the strapping young Chris O’Donnell and the luxuriously beautiful Nicole Kidman.
Recall Jim Carey’s freewheeling antics, and Tommy Lee Jones having the time of his life. Consider, if you will, the fact that both of these characters played their villains as the Joker. Try not to be saddened by the dismantling of canon.
Do your best not to giggle at the Batsuit having nipples.
You will fail. The Batsuit’s nipples are hilarious, and codpieces were in play.
But we got an amazing soundtrack out of the film. A good soundtrack is hard to concoct. You can thank the RZA for that. WU. TANG.
I don’t know where to take this post after Wu Tang. So I’m going to drop you off here. I hope you have enjoyed taking this flavorful, cultural voyage with me. I wish you the very safest of travels, tea friends.
