Mahagastotte Estate Reserve Tea from Drink T

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: Drink T

Product Description:

Ceylon is the ancestral name of the island nation of Sri Lanka, located off the southeastern coast of India. The name of the country was changed in 1972 but the teas are still known as Ceylon’s.

The Mahagastotte Estate is in the Nuwara Eliya district in the shadow of Pidurutalagala, Sri Lanka’s highest mountain. Mahagastotte in the native language means “place with large trees”. Teas from this estate are sometimes known as Lover’s Leap, a reference to the story of the King’s daughter who jumped off the mountain precipice with her forbidden lover.

Our selection is a medium body black tea with a fragrant bouquet and aromatic flavor, making it the perfect first cup of the day or a quick afternoon pick me up.

Tasters Review:

I really enjoy this tea! It’s a great go-to black tea that is both bold and beautiful!

The taste is medium to strong leaning more toward the stronger side of a black tea.  Mahagastotte Estate Reserve Tea from Drink T has a pleasant and even – not overly done – Boldness to it.  There is no bitterness but it does have a nice chewy/floral type smell and taste – that is quite memorable.

This tea is full of flavor and has a nice even taste from start to finish!

California Chai from Drink T

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  Drink T

Company Description:

Chai simply means “tea” in many parts of the world. However, for others it means tea with Indian spices, enjoyed with milk and honey. Our California Chai goes its own way, using aromatic black tea, flavored with eastern spices plus a touch of citrus and vanilla. It’s a most relaxing and satisfying beverage.

Taster’s Review:

I have been drinking a lot of chai teas lately, because the weather has gotten considerably cooler over the last month or so, and I find the warmth of chai tea – not just the temperature of the tea, but also the warmth of the spices – to be extraordinarily comforting when autumn comes.

But this chai – really surprised me!  It is different, but I really like it.

The first time I brewed some of this tea, I somehow went into “auto-pilot” mode and I steamed and frothed some milk and served it “latte” before reading the information on this tea.  In particular, the part that says “Cream:  No.”

I will say that this tea, as a latte, is really good.  It has a kind of creamsicle-y taste to it, like a spiced creamsicle.  And I quite enjoyed it.

But now that I sit here, with a cup brewed according to the above brewing parameters – and no cream – I can tell you that it is so much better without the steamed milk.

This is a deliciously different chai blend.  The citrus (it tastes like orange) adds a unique twist to the chai spices.  It really wakes up the flavor on what might otherwise be just another ordinary chai blend.  The flavor is bright and juicy!

Together with the vanilla, there is still some of that “creamsicle-y” kind of taste, but it is not nearly as strong as it was with the steamed milk.  With the steamed milk, that creamsicle taste is at the forefront of the flavor profile, without it, it becomes a charming background note that really enhances the chai spices.

The black tea is a smooth, even tasting black tea, not particularly outstanding in its own right, but, what it does do – quite well – is allow these other flavors to take the starring role without being washed out completely by them.  It stands on its own, without being overwhelmed, but, it doesn’t attempt to overpower the other flavors in this cup, either.

The chai spices are warm, but, again, they aren’t overpowering.  They seem perfectly content in sharing the cup with the sunny orange and creamy vanilla essences, creating a cup that is not as spicy as some chai teas, but, is every bit as flavorful in its own way.

Rooibos Toffee Tide from Drink T

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Rooibos

Where to Buy:  Drink T

Company Description:

Rooibos was popularized by South Africans, who have been making herbal tea from this little red bush for generations. Rooibos comes from the Dutch word rooibosche, which means “red bush”. It is most often enjoyed on ice with a slice of lemon and some sugar or honey.

Our Rooibos Toffee Tide gives you the sweet, slightly nutty flavor of this African “bush” tea blended with hazelnuts and creamy milk cacao to satisfy any sweet tooth. Great hot or cold.

Taster’s Review:

YUM!  This is one of the most delicious rooibos blends I have ever tasted.  But, beware:  this tea can become addictive!

I have tasted a lot of very good rooibos blends lately, but this one is really flavored very well.  The sweet flavor of buttery toffee marries very well with the naturally sweet, woodsy flavor of the rooibos to create a delicious and comforting treat that is ideal for any time of the day.  Kids are sure to love this one too!

The flavor of this tisane is so sweet and satisfying, and would make an excellent dessert replacement.  Even if you choose to sweeten it (it really doesn’t need additional sweetener because it is quite sweet on its own) this rooibos tisane will be much friendlier to the waistline than a piece of candy!  This tea lets you have your candy and eat it (well, drink it) too!

Sencha Passion from Drink T

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green

Where to Buy:  Drink T

Company Description:

Here’s an intriguing blend. Our Sencha Passion takes the fresh grassy and highly aromatic character of this fine Chinese green tea, blending it with tropical papaya and lemon grass. The result is a tangy, fruity beverage with a wonderfully unique character.

Taster’s Review:

I know I say this a lot – but this tea is really good!

The green tea base is smooth.  There is a rich, soft texture to the tea that seems to glide over the palate like velvet.  It feels very luxurious.

The papaya is sweet and gives this tea a very tropical tone, while the lemongrass offers just enough tart flavor to cut through the sweetness and adds a unique depth to the cup.

This is definitely one of my favorites from Drink T!

Tasters Review:

Before looking at the product description I assumed this was just a high quality unflavored green tea – but I was wrong!  This is a gem!  And so much more than ‘run-of-the-mill’…

This has a wonderful aroma – mostly of Juicy Papaya but also floral and green tea! This infuses to a light color as it shows in the photo…mine was a tad darker.  The taste is a lovely, juicy sweeter-green tea taste with BIG Papaya and Floral flavors!

My first attempt with this tea I had a large chunk of rose petal in it.  I could taste both types for flowers – rose AND poesy – and they perfectly assist the Papaya!

This is a lovely little number with BIG Taste!
