Donut Alert!! London Fog Donut from Glory Hole Donuts

Ever since I was a little girl I was a little obsessed with doughnuts. Are they a breakfast? Are they a dessert? Doesn’t matter because they are delicious and good for all occasions. As of late, it seems others have caught on to my way of thinking since gourmet doughnut shops are popping up everywhere.

When I was younger, sprinkle doughnuts were where it’s at but now there is a vast world of donut options. PB&J doughnuts, Lemon Meringue doughnuts, Maple Bacon doughnuts, Creme Brulee doughnuts, Lime Coconut doughnuts…the list keeps going. Over the years my tastes evolved with the times and I opened up my heart to all the doughnuts out there. So, when I came across a tea inspired doughnut, there was no way I could resist it, even if it were inspired by a flavor I don’t usually love.

Enter the London Fog doughnut by Glory Hole Doughnuts in Toronto, a yeast doughnut filled with an Earl Grey pastry cream topped with an Earl Grey infused glaze. Bergamot is not my favorite but I would try anything once, especially doughnuts.

As per usual, the doughnut itself was incredibly fluffy and light. Definitely one of the better yeast doughnuts I have come across. I wish the pastry cream were a little smoother as there was a little bit of lumpiness to it but it had a great vanilla flavor with a tiny citrus kick. The glaze was sweet. Very sweet. Which I enjoyed because the sugar drowned out the bergamot a fair bit making this a little more vanilla than Earl Grey for me. For those that enjoy Earl Grey and a strong bergamot flavor, they might be a little let down by this but for those looking for a London Fog doughnut with a touch a citrus, a dash of vanilla, and a whole lot of creamy sweetness, this is the treat for you!

And for those that don’t want anything to do with Earl Grey? Well, I am sure Glory Hole Doughnuts has something to make you happy as well so check them out if you are ever in the Parkdale area of Toronto, Canada 🙂
