Taster’s Review:

Pu erh is a tea that scares and intimidates me. I never know how to correctly prepare it or if I’m even drinking it right. I’ve tried to learn but this is one tea I want to actually sit down and learn from more of an expert. But regardless, I thought I would try my hand at a flavored Pu erh from Geeky Teas.

I’ve tried flavored Pu erhs in the past and they didn’t turn out right. So I thought I would give it another go.  This Pu erh blend combines strawberries, cocoa nibs, hazelnut, vanilla, and creme flavor.  A combination I would typically shy away from anyway since I’m not a fan of hazelnut.  But this is a Geeky Tea blend and I’m determined to try all of their amazingly fun blends.

Right off the bat, this tea smelled almost sinful. A decadent blend for sure. The dry leaf mix had a lovely chocolate covered strawberry note with hints of hazelnuts.  I prepared this up like I would a black tea-212F and steeped for about 4 minutes.  4 minutes later, I poured the tea into my cuppa and allowed it to cool for just a moment.

I have to say, this tea was fantastic and delicious.  I was incredibly hesitant to try this tea because I thought it would be an instant pour out but it was the complete opposite! The tea had a lovely dark rich and like the dry leaf mix-sinful feel to it.  Bright strawberry flavor with a rich chocolate and hints of hazelnuts, vanilla and creme surrounded each and every sip.  I am not a chocolate fan nor a hazelnut fan and I can’t get enough of this tea.  I have had several sessions with this tea and each sip is as good as the last.  This is one of those teas you enjoy when you’ve got a sweet tooth that needs satisfying and you don’t want the calories.  Plus this tea is dedicated to The Never Ending Story. . I mean it doesn’t get much better!!

Taster’s Review:

I will admit it right off the bat. I have tried to play Portal and I was absolutely awful at it. To the point where my kiddos were like “It’s ok Mommy, you are good at other things.”  I used to think I was good at video games, guess that just isn’t the case anymore.  In that moment, I knew I was old. (ha!)

Geeky Teas is one of my favorite tea shops.  They produce fun unique handed blended teas that scream with personality and of course I love the idea that they are based on fandoms.  The Cake Is A Lie blend is a mix of black tea, vanilla flavorings, candy sprinkles, creme flavor, and caramel flavor.  Just take a whiff of the dry leaf mix and you can smell each and ever one of those ingredients.  The dry leaf smells simply divine.  One of those teas that you feel like you are gaining weight just by smelling the tea.

Brewed up with freshly prepped boiling water, I allowed this tea to steep for about 4 minutes. I waited a few moments to let the tea cool and took my first sip.  Oh my Goodness! This tea isn’t just good. It’s brilliant! This tea is the king of dessert teas! The black tea is the silent base that is giving the flavors to be the star.  The creme and the caramel are the flavors you really get along with a chocolate note here and there.  The flavors all combined really doesn’t taste like a chocolate cake. I have tried so many different teas that say they taste like cake, this one really does!

This may be the best tea I have tried yet from Geeky Teas. I see a large pouch of this blend in my future!

Chalmun’s CanTeana from Geeky Teas

ChalmunsTea Information:

Leaf Type:  Herbal

Where to Buy: Geeky Teas

Tea Description:

Beware: you may find yourself buying the death star steeper and watching your boyfriend drink your entire stash in his Darth Vader mug before you’ve had your third cup.

What little I’ve managed to steal back from him has been excellent. Any tea with rose gets a high five, and the inclusion of apple pieces is a rare (delightful) find.

Taster’s Review:

Geeky Teas is one of my favorite places to go on the internet.  I am so sad that I live so far away from Donna’s actual store.  I swear I would be there all the time.  But at least I get to visit online and enjoy the fandom geeky love that is being offered to geeks like myself in the form of tea blends.

I’ve reviewed Geeky Teas before both on SororiTea Sisters and CuppaGeek.  The teas are either hit or miss for me, but when they hit they are marvelous and typically when they miss, with a bit of tweaking they would be superstars. But let’s start by saying this- Donna’s love of tea and of her clients makes her one of my favorite companies to purchase products from.  I can’t get over how much she has listened to my comments and made slight changes here and there.  She has really taken what I’ve said (& others) to heart and made huge improvements.  You can’t ask for a better company to work with than Geeky Teas.

Let’s chat about the blend.  I love my Star Wars.  Anything with Star Wars I’m all over.  When my son told me he wanted to be Jango Fett (yes Jango!) I felt I had done well as a parent.  (Ha!) So when I came across this blend, I couldn’t wait to pick up a sample and see what it was all about.

Brewed up like an herbal tea, this herbal concoction has quite an array of inclusions.  The dry mixture didn’t have much of an aroma to it.  I steeped the tea in my Death Star Infuser (yep, told you.  Love Star Wars).   I allowed the tea to steep for about 6 minutes in fresh boiled water. As I was about to take my first sip, I was hoping I would get a marvelous herbal aroma from the fresh brewed tea, but I still didn’t really pick any one particular note.

Took that first sip and sad to say, this blend just doesn’t do it for me.  I really didn’t pick up any one particular flavor profile or not.  I mainly noted a muddy like herbal flavor.  I could get a hint of a flavor here or there but by the time I noted it, the flavor has faded.  Sadly this blend may not be for me, but to be fair- I did get a sample of this and the pieces looked to be pretty small.  I’m wondering if maybe my tea sample was crushed by being in my tea stash, which could explain the muddy flavor.  I have a feeling that is what happened.  I would be more than willingly to try the tea again. I think it has the promise to be fabulous. Just need to work thru a few more teas before I can make an order.

If you haven’t checked out Geeky Teas and you are a fandom sort of person, I encourage you to check out Geeky Teas’s offerings of over 40 different fandom teas!

Taster’s Review:

Who doesn’t love My Little Pony. I mean c’mon! They even have bronies! I have loved My Little Pony forever. I remember playing with my ponies and doing their hair for hours straight as a kiddo. So when I saw that Geeky Teas had a fandom tea based off of My Little Pony- I said yes please!

This particular tea is a take on a caramel apple tea with cinnamon and a black tea base. Geeky Teas black tea base is very hit or miss with me and seems to be a bit more on the finicky side sometimes. But when it is good, it is good!

Brewed this up like a black tea with water prepped at 212F, allowed it to steep for about 3 minutes. The whole time the tea was steeping you could smell this wonderful aroma.  Reminded me of a bakery.  Sweet and almost nutty.

The waiting time was finally over and I took my first sip. Oh my goodness! This may be the best tea I’ve tried from Geeky Teas yet! This tea is amazing. I really wasn’t in the mood for a black tea but oh my goodness!! This tea really does taste like a caramel apple.  The black tea provides a lush smooth silky like background while the apple brings a tartness, the cinnamon gives the tea a bit of a spiced feel, while the caramel apple flavoring gives you that sweet nutty flavor.  Seriously good tea here! I’m in love!

I’ve said it before but if you haven’t checked out Geeky Teas, you need to!

Taster’s Review:

We are down to the wire! Last few days before the Christmas holiday is here.  And what better way to celebrate the holidays with a festive blend from Geeky Teas, one of my personal favorite tea stores.

Geeky Teas is located in California where they combine two of my favorite fandoms- tea and all around geekiness! You’ll find anything from board games, Dr. Who merchandise, geeky fandom teas, and much more! I’ve never personally been there but I’m an avid follower and huge fan of theirs.  I’ve used Geeky Teas for gift giving in the past and have always been impressed by Donna’s care and compassion.

Let’s chat about this tea- Buddy’s Blend.  Now the first thing I thought of was that this tea was going to be a maple syrup blend or very sweet with the whole candy obsession Buddy has.  Not the case at all.  This is a black tea with more of a chai feel going on. Cloves, cardamom, ginger root, cinnamon, and other spices.  I’m not the biggest fan of chais or blends that have a chai feel but I love Geeky Teas, so I had to check it out.

Brewed up like a black tea, this tea omitted a gorgeous aroma.  The ginger really stood out.  After about 3 minutes of steeping in water at 212F, the tea was ready to try.  The tea itself had quite a nice amber appearance to it.  I took a sip and from start to finish, you really do get a mild chai like flavor.  The ginger still stands out as the most prominent flavor while the cardamom and cloves take a spot in second place.  The cinnamon bark and cinnamon flavor rounds out the sip nicely with a touch of a spiced sweetness.  The tea itself isn’t overall very sweet but with a bit of honey or sugar, this tea could really be stellar! I could even see this tea being a wonderful tea to create a latte with. A wonderful tea to start the holiday week off right!

Pretty tasty, tho I think I would like to see Donna’s take on a maple syrup tea. . . .that could be fun and fantastic!

If you haven’t checked out Geeky Teas, please do.  They are a wonderful hand blended tea shop.
