Ever stumble upon a tea that just completely makes you say “What?!?” This tea did that to me.
I review products for companies on Amazon all the time. Besides my blog and doing tea reviews for SororiTea Sisters, it is one of my favorite ways to spend my time. Whenever I see tea up for grabs needing a review, I always get giddy and hope I make the cut.
So when this tea arrived in its giant 16oz package (yes, 1 lb!) I wasn’t sure what I would be in for except that I have a pound of this tea. I opened the enormous tea pouch up and was hit with this lovely fragrance mix of green tea, pomegranate, and a sweet rose bud floral undertone. I was incredibly impressed. The tea leaves didn’t’ appear to be crushed but lovely and with a lot of substance. I couldn’t wait to try this tea.
Brewed up like a green tea and allowed to steep for about 4 minutes, this tea yields an amazing flavor. Lovely rich buttery green tea notes with a jammy pomegranate flavor and a sweetness from the rose buds that really bring this tea to another notch. There is just a slight hint of a tartness from the pomegranate but it is very very slight. Everything is just so smooth and all the flavors are right where they need to be. (I have a feeling I’ll be drinking this tea all day).
The jammy notes are what get me the most and I can say that this tea has me hooked. I’ve already got a pitcher going for a cold brew for this week and I’m planning on making some iced tea as well for the day. I’m on my third cup from the same infusion and the flavors are still giving me so much love.
This is one of those teas that proves you can’t judge a book (or tea) by its cover. This tea is amazingly priced for what you get and I can’t wait to try and check out the other teas I have coming. Highly recommend this tea for a flavored green tea that bursts with flavor. I’m absolutely serving this at my sister in law’s baby shower in a few weeks. It is really that good and one that everybody would enjoy. The flavors are bright enough to give flavor but not so overwhelming that you can’t taste the green tea base. One of those teas you just have to share!

Looking thru my huge tea stash I have I saw that I still hadn’t tried this particular tea from 52Teas yet. I love 52Teas and have reviewed them for both SororiTea Sisters and my own blog, CuppaGeek. I love the passion and uniqueness I find in the teas they offer.
This particular green tea is no longer available to purchase, but I still wanted to give my thoughts. That is the one problem with 52Teas is that when you find a tea you like, you need to act quickly and pick some of the tea blend up before it sells out. Because once a tea at 52Teas sells out, that is it. There isn’t anymore available unless you get lucky and there is a reblend. And I don’t blame them at all for running the business that way. That is what makes 52Teas so unique. There is a constant flow of new teas being released so you’d have to and some point say good bye to others just to keep the inventory straight.
Blueberry Scone Green Tea is a blend of green tea, blueberries, natural flavors, and nutmeg. The nutmeg part just throws me and that is where the baked good or pastry note I’m assuming will fall into place. I took one whiff of the dry leaf and just sighed. The blueberry and nutmeg aromas mingled together so nicely. Really giving a blueberry baked good feel.
I brewed this tea up with water prepped at about 175F and allowed the tea to steep for about 4 minutes. The instructions did say 5-6, but I wanted to error on the side of caution.
Finally the tea was done and ready to try. I took my first sip and just wow. This tea blend is delicious. The flavors really mix so well together. I will admit that the nutmeg really made me hesitate there for a second because I wasn’t sure how the green tea and the nutmeg worked but the base of this tea is a lovely rich and buttery smoothness with just hints of the nutmeg running thru it. The major tasting note you walk away with is the blueberries. The blueberries in this tea really taste like fresh blueberries that are in a decadent and rich blueberry sauce. There is almost a blueberry jam quality to what I’m picking up. Just wonderful.
This is one blend I hope makes its way to the reblend section soon. I only have a taster pouch and now I wish I had a much larger one! I think what I have left will go to a cold brew pitcher because this tea will be amazing as an iced tea!
Dragon Well/Long Jing from Teabook

In China today, most green teas are still pan fired like originally done in the Yuan Dynasty (1271 – 1368); this helps to dry the leaf in a way to prevent much oxidation to preserve the green color. From a health perspective, green tea is increasingly popular for its content of EGCG (epigallocatechin), an antioxidant which studies show may have a number of health benefits. Green tea flavor and aroma are often referred to as vegetal, mild, cleansing, and sometimes savory or buttery. The tannins range from bitter to sweet depending on the variety.

Taster’s Review:
Teabook is an tea company with a very interesting concept. They provide consumers with individually wrapped servings of loose leaf tea. The packaging looks very similar to that of a tea bag. Each month you’ll receive a box from Teabook with that month’s tea in it individually packaged for your convenience. A very cool idea. To have loose leaf tea packaged in a way that you don’t have to re package it to make it portable makes me want to instantly run out and sign up. Right now it looks like they mainly have straight teas on the site, but I can see this being just a fantastic new way for loose leaf tea drinkers to get their tea.
This tea that I am trying from Teabook is a Dragon Well. I have tried several different types of Dragon Wells from different tea companies and was excited to try out this offering. I brewed this tea up with the water temp at about 180 per the guidelines provided on the package. I poured the contents of the package into my steeper and watched the leaves dance as the water was poured in. I let the tea steep for about 4 minutes and took my first sip.
The major flavor note that you get from this tea is a nice pleasant vegetal note that is rich and satisfying. I took my cuppa into a meeting. As the meeting was progressing, I started to notice that the pleasant vegetal note started to turn more and more into a deeper richer and dare I say darker vegetal flavor.
As much as I love my green teas, I have to say this one may just not be for me. As the tea cools, that seaweed like flavor becomes more and more pronounced. It reminded me of a rich black tea that you allow to cool for way too long and it has become too astringent for you. Similar situation here.
I’m still not sure how I feel about this particular offering yet. I think this would be one to try again later on but I still love the idea of Teabook and plan on checking into it. Such a great concept!
Easy Bein’ Green from Paper Box Goodies

I really like the Paper Box Goodies tea. They are no fuss no nonsense sort of teas. They are all bagged teas but they are done very well.
This particular blend is a green tea. A crisp fresh green tea with a honey and slight citrus twist. I steeped this up like I would any traditional green tea with the help of my Breville One Touch. I love using my Breville to prep the water. that way there is no guessing on the correct temperature.
So with a name like Easy Bein’ Green, I instantly think Kermit. Such fond memories of watching The Muppet’s when I was a kid and still to this day I enjoy them. I’m so excited for the new Muppet’s series to come out. Gonzo and the Swedish Chef were my favorites. I loved how the Swedish Chef mumbled everything and threw everything around. Such great memories. And all from a name of a tea.
Like I noted before, this green tea was fantastic. I drank this iced and hot and I actually think I prefer this hot. The green buttery richness was on target with want I wanted and there was such a nice honey background. The citrus twist would come and go but brought a bit of a different feel to the tea, giving a uniqueness to it. I’m not sure I got orange from the tea like the description would suggest but just an overall citrus note.
I honestly can say that after the cuppa was empty, I promptly refilled with more water and had myself another cuppa. This tea was good. Spot on. And just all around perfect for what I was wanting. Paper Box Goodies excels at providing their customers with no mess teas, something I’m in need of right now.

Being a huge green tea fan, I thought for sure I would not love this tea. To be honest, I thought my tea snob would come out and say No- I will not like you. You are a tea bag. Mind you, I have been drinking tea bags from Paper Box Goodies all week but I still had that feeling.
Yep, my inner snob was shut up right quickly with one sip of this tea. I am surprised how good this is. Clean and refreshing green tea. No fuss. No mess. Just a solid smooth almost sweet green tea with a hint of vegetal going on here and there.
I prepped this tea up using just the water spout on our coffee maker at work and VIOLA! Green tea on the go and in a flash! This tea saved me in a meeting that I thought for sure I was going to fall asleep in. This tea is a great every day kind of tea. One that I could drink all day every day!
Nicely done Ringtons. This is the first tea I’ve had from them and I can say it won’t be the last. Tasty!
