Taster’s Review:

Today is not my birthday … but it is my un-birthday!  And what a lovely tea to drink to celebrate my un-birthday!

The black tea base is strong and offers a robust flavor with hints of malt that emphasize a baked-bread, cake-y kind of flavor.  There is some astringency to this tea, and it comes close to being just a tad bitter, so I would recommend not over-steeping this one.  I steeped it for two and a half minutes in my Breville One-Touch and found that to produce a perfect cup without bitterness, however, there is just a hint there that suggests if I had steeped it longer, it might have been bitter.

The flavors are quite nice.  There is an overtone of vanilla that is sweet and creamy and smooth, and undertones of caramel that are enhanced by the malty tones of the black tea.  Together, they really create that sort of “birthday cake” (or un-birthday cake!) kind of flavor.

The sprinkles melt as this tea brews, adding a little bit of sweetness, but not a whole lot of flavor to the overall cup.  There is some sweetness to this cup, but, if you want a sweet cake taste, try adding just a little sugar to bring out the flavors a little more.  You won’t need a lot, just a pinch!  Some milk or cream might be nice in this too.

A lovely, whimsical tea.  I’m glad I got to try it!

Tasters Review:

I’m a sucker for teas with sprinkles in them!  So I was SUPER excited to try this tea from White August Tea Company.  It’s called ConfeTEA.

This one is wonderfully creamy!  Silky-Smooth!  Awesomely velvety!  The description of Vanilla Cupcakes with Sprinkles is VERY accurate!

This is tremendous!  One that would appear on my favorites list time and time again!

Taster’s Review:

What a fun tea!  And it really does smell like vanilla cupcakes!

I love cupcakes – I go positively giddy every time I see something cupcake (especially if I see a cupcake bakery!  haha!)  So I was really excited about this tea.  The cute little candy sprinkles add such life to what might otherwise be an ordinary-looking black tea.

The candy sprinkles melt during steeping, and add just a tiny bit of sweetness to the cup.  (If you like your teas sweet, you might want to add just a little more)  The black tea is brisk but not overbearing, and has a pleasant, inviting taste (and aroma!)  There is a light astringency to this cup.  It is not bitter, though, even after five minutes of steeping.

This tea has a light vanilla taste to it.  Like the black tea base, it is not an overwhelming vanilla taste.

This would be a great tea to serve to guests (a great party tea!) because it has a fairly mellow tone to it, it is not overly astringent.  It is not cloying nor bitter… a very friendly sort of tea!

Tasters Review:

I LOVE Novelty Teas.  Teas that have a theme or purchase.  You know – ones that think outside of the box – or should I say Tea Cup.

I like this tea just for that reason.  I wouldn’t say it would make my top 100 favorite tasting teas but it’s a nice treat and enjoyable!

This definitely smells like the FROSTING of a cupcake or cake.

It’s a medium strength type black tea taste with a vanilla/cream taste to it.  As it cools a bit I am liking it better.  Not necessarily iced, or cold, but cooling for a few minutes at room temperature, that is.

I think the sprinkles are a brilliant touch in this.  They give it a slight sugar taste to pair with the vanilla and cream flavors.  The caramel is very subtle.

Overall – this tea makes me smile.  I find myself sipping on it from time to time.  If you are looking for something different or a novelTEA…try this out!
