Taster’s Review:

As I sit here, the fragrance of this tisane is enticing me to take a sip.  I have never had freshly baked gingersnap cookies before, but, this is what I would expect them to smell like if I ever happen to try my hand at baking them myself.  It smells so wonderful.

And it tastes even better than it smells!  It is sweet and delicious – and yes, it tastes very much like gingersnaps.

The flavor is nutty and spiced just right.  The ginger is warm and slightly peppery, but, it isn’t a spicy-hot ginger taste.  The fruit in this lends a nice depth to the flavor.  It doesn’t taste fruity, but it tastes sweeter and a little richer because of the fruit.

After my first cup – which I drank without any additions – I decided I wanted more of this amazing tisane, so I brewed another cup.  This time I felt a little adventurous so I added a little bit of turbinado sugar and a splash of milk.  What a treat!  Yes, it was delicious straight, but with a little milk and sugar the flavors really come to life!

This one is going on my shopping list!  I must have more!

Mango Maté from Fusion Tea Room

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Yerba Maté

Where to Buy:  Fusion Tea Room

Product Description:

The elegance of this blend is simple and sophisticated. Our unsmoked yerba mate infused with the flavor of ripe mangoes. Very smooth that goes down easy. You ‘ll forget you’re actually drinking mate because the astringency and bitterness that so many other brands have isn’t there. Energize your midday over ice. Love it, drink it, share it.

Taster’s Review:

I have to agree with the above description, this is very smooth, it goes down easily!  There is no astringency and no bitterness.  It is sweet and absolutely delicious.  This just may be my favorite Yerba Maté blend yet.

Although I must say that I don’t actually forget that I am sipping on Yerba Maté, because it tastes like Yerba Maté.  It does lack the sometimes bitter taste that accompanies a typical smoked Yerba Maté, but beyond that, I can taste the vegetative and earthy qualities of the Maté.  It also has that invigorating quality of Yerba Maté.  This is a Yerba Maté blend I’d recommend to those who have tried Yerba Maté in the past and found it to be a little off-putting.  This blend will change their mind!

The mango tastes sweet.  It’s a very vibrant fruit flavor – very authentic and juicy.  The fruit melds so beautifully with the vegetal taste of the green Yerba Maté.  The vegetative taste is a little more prominent than the earthy quality of the Maté here, and the flavors unite so harmoniously.

As I said before, I’d recommend this to anyone who has tried Yerba Maté in the past and didn’t care for it – this one will change your mind.  I’d also recommend this one to the Yerba Maté newbies out there.  Heck, I’d recommend this one to anybody – it’s that good!

Caramel Cream from Fusion Tea Room

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Yerba Maté & Rooibos

Where to Buy:  Fusion Tea Room

Product Description:

Caramel Cream Mate takes the bold rich flavor of the roasted mate and the full bodied nutty rooibos and pairs them with real decadent caramel bits. Marigold flowers are added to help bring out the smokey tones of the rooibos and caramels. Adding a splash of cream and sugar creates the perfect balance of sweet and salty.

Taster’s Review:

I don’t drink coffee.  I can’t.  Well, I guess I can, but, if I do, I won’t be feeling very well in a couple of hours.  But that doesn’t stop me from wishing I could indulge every time I pass a coffee shop and see their enticing advertisements for their latest latte creation, especially if that latte is a caramel latte.  In fact, there have been several times when I’ve been thisclose to actually breaking down and ordering one because my sweet tooth was craving that yummy caramel and roasted coffee combination.  Well, I think I may have finally found the perfect alternative!

The first time I tried this blend, I was a bit unsure about it.  It has a very strong chicory presence – which when added conservatively can give a very pleasing depth to the cup.  Chicory is often used as a coffee substitute for those who need to reduce their caffeine intake, because it has a flavor that is very similar to coffee.  Paired with the Yerba Maté, it creates a very robust flavor.  (Note:  Yerba Maté does contain caffeine, so this not a blend I would suggest to someone who is trying to reduce their caffeine)

The chicory lends a deep roasted flavor to the cup.  There is a hint of smoke to it too.  The Yerba Maté is earthy, roasted and just slightly vegetative.  The rooibos is nutty and a little woody.  Together, these three components create a base that is a strong roasted flavor that is quite similar to a stout coffee.  In fact, this is much more like coffee to me than a tea (or tisane).  The caramel is a burnt sugar caramel taste, and this is really highlighted by the deep roasted and smoky notes of the base blend.

I recommend drinking this blend with sugar and milk (or cream).  It’s not often that I strongly recommend additions, but, this time, is an exception.  This blend has a very strong flavor, and it can be a little harsh.  However, the addition of milk really smooths out the harsher tones of this blend and makes it not only palatable – but downright delicious.  It becomes a great alternative to a caramel coffee latte for those of us who can’t drink coffee!

Tasters Review:

What a creative blend of flavors this is!  The aroma and taste are what you would expect for a Carrot Cake Flavored ANYTHING which I have found other companies attempts lacking…but NOT Fusion Tea Room!  They NAILED it!

The Maple Brittle seems to enhance all of the other flavors.  This is very sweet and I really don’t think any additional sweetener is required…but again, this is coming from someone who NEVER adds anything to their teas/tisanes.

The Ginger, Cinnamon, Cloves aren’t prominent flavors but certainly contribute to the overall taste.  The Walnut, Carrots, Raisins, Coconut, and Maple Brittle flavors are more in the fore-front.  The Rooibos and Honeybush are well covered from their stereotypical taste for those who tend to shy away from it – they may want to give this one a whirl.

This is very aromatic and very flavorful! Very well done Fusion Tea Room!  It’s a winner!
