Strawberry Rush from The Love Tea Company. . . .

Welcome to summer this tea screams as it tumbles down your throat.  . .

The hot weather sensations begin with the liquid. Clear rose in color with hints of a sunset orange.

This tea has hibiscus in it so one must be mindful of the steeping time. In order to full appreciate the summery strawberry flavors steep 2 – 2.5 minutes.

Sensations of fresh strawberries intertwine nicely with the crisp grassy green tea notes.

Once you hit the three minute mark the hibiscus takes over like Japanese beetles on a bean plant. . . . .so this tea is for those who love a tart strawberry tea with a grassy note. Definitely one that needs to be enjoyed in the summer or to brighten up ones palate since winter time is typically a heavy spiced tea season.

Description

It’s hard to keep this one in stock, teens and tweens love it, and it’s so much better than soda.   It’s a Brilliant Blend of herbal and fruit that evokes strawberry fields.  It is an organic green tea that is a simple pleasure with complex ingredients – green tea, with papaya, apple, orange and strawberry pieces, rosehip, calendula petals and natural strawberry flavors.  This blend is great hot or cold, but our preference is cold.   Blend several pots, keep it refridgerated and serve over ice with a fresh strawberry on the side.   The kids can take part in the mission on this one.  Make sure they #sharethelove with their friends.

Strawberry Shortcake from The NecessiTeas. . . . .

One of my absolute, all-time, favorite summer desserts is strawberry shortcake. I have really, really fond memories of strawberry shortcake from when I was a kid. My nana and papa would always have BBQ get-together at their house and my nana would buy biscuits from the grocery store and we would pile them with cool whip and fresh strawberries. It was so good, so cool, and fresh, and summery. When I think of a strawberry shortcake tea, I want it to be crisp and fresh tasting…and of course, strawberry!

Upon opening my pre-packaged tin of Strawberry Shortcake by The NecessiTEA’s I smelled something really sweet, almost like cherry. I was really hoping for more of a fresh strawberry smell so this was a little different. I steeped it for three minutes and added a touch of agave. I’m still smelling cherry instead of strawberry which is slightly disappointing, but now I’m wondering if its maybe the vanilla mingling with the strawberry.

The white tea is very light and a perfect base for the sweet flavors of strawberry shortcake. I think that I would have enjoyed this more if I wasn’t smelling that artificial cherry scent…but that’s not to say that it isn’t a good blend. I’m actually wondering if I would enjoy this better iced. The aftertaste is definitely vanilla with a hint of cake, so I do think this was half true to it’s name, but I wish there was more fresh strawberry flavor opposed to “cherry”. Either way, it is definitely worth trying and next time I brew it I will brew it over ice!

Taster’s Review:

If you haven’t taken a whiff of this tea while its steeping, you are missing out.  This tea had such an amazing sweet candy with an almost berry dessert wine profile.

I received this tea bag from a fellow tea pal from Steepster and was excited to try it.  Lupicia has some amazing teas.  With a name like Rose Royal, I just knew this had to be amazing.

Steeped this up like a traditional black but made an error.  I left the tea bag in.  This tea turned bitter quickly.  The first few sips were fabulous.  The taste matched the aroma I was loving.  Sweet Berry Wine with a strong black tea base.  Oh so good.  Hit all the right notes.  A flavored tea that isn’t overwhelming.

But then I got distracted with a phone call here and an email there.  When I went back to the tea, it was a bitter sad brew.  I could still smell that amazing aroma but the taste had turned on me.

Even tho my first jaunt with this tea didn’t turn out the way I wanted to, I still loved those first few sips.  This tea will be on my list to pick more up once I sipdown some more teas.  Which this is #14.  Woot Woot!

Taster’s Review:

Strawberries in fresh cream. . .anybody a fan? Anybody? I am!

This tea reminds me of crisp sweet strawberries in fresh cream.  Just like a fancy restaurant used to offer that my parents took me to quite often.  When my dad was ready to go out to eat, we went all out.  This particular restaurant also served bananas ‘n cream. I would always get one or the other for dessert.

This is a black tea but one that is done with finesse.  I loved how the black tea provided a richness in the background while the strawberries and cream flavor where allowed to play.  I did get slight hints of astringency so this one I don’t think would be very forgiving if oversteeped.  There is also a very subtle and quite hint of a malty finish, which provides a bit of complexity.  The strawberries had such a beautiful fresh flavor while the cream had a lush silky feel.  Seriously.  This tea was good. I recommend all the teas at the Sunshine Cottage.  I’ve tried several and only didn’t care for a few and that was probably my fault for oversteeping.  I would love to try this one as a cold brew or as a latte.

Now, to find a tea that tastes like the bananas n’ cream the restaurant also offered. . . .
