Taster’s Review:

This is a really cool looking herbal tisane with the itty bitty chocolate chips in it!  Yeah, I know … I shouldn’t get all excited by something as simple as chocolate chips.  But I’m a chocoholic, what can I say?  And when I saw that this Peppermint Patty Herbal Tisane from Butiki Teas is a peppermint tisane with chocolate AND marshmallow root … I got really excited about trying it!

And OH yum!  This is tasty!

It’s minty, of course, and the mint is strong … but it isn’t overpowering the chocolate-y notes and the creamy, sweet notes of the marshmallow come through so deliciously!   The mint doesn’t come off tasting like mouthwash … with the fluffy marshmallow and decadent chocolate notes … these flavors bring out the sweeter essence of the mint so that it tastes sweet not medicinal or too herbaceous.

What I’m liking most about this is that this herbal tisane is that it really delivers just what the name seems to imply.  The name … sounds like a candy bar (I know, duh!  right?) and this has a very yummy, sweet, dessert-y taste to it.  This is the perfect way to enjoy a sweet treat after a meal without too many calories.  Sure, there’s going to be some calories in this … but, it’s not going to have as many calories as that candy bar you might be craving!

It’s sweet, minty, chocolate-y, creamy deliciousness!   And it is delightfully satisfying to my chocoholic sweet tooth!

Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat Black Tea Blend from Butiki Teas

banana walnut keemunTea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  Butiki Teas

Tea Description:

Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat utilizes our Congou Keemun as the base which provides an interesting contrast with the sweet banana flavor. We also added a touch of walnut which melds nicely with base without overpowering the banana flavor. One of our customers, Foxy Roxy, contacted us to suggest a banana Keemun blend. Since we were already working on a banana tea, we decided to test it out and we were quite surprised by the deliciousness of this combination. Taster’s Review:

WOW!  This Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat Black Tea Blend from Butiki Teas is fantastic!  It exceeds any expectations I had of the tea … and since it’s a blend from Butiki Teas, my expectations were very high.  This tea is really delicious.

The banana flavor here is probably the best tasting banana flavor in a tea that I’ve yet to try.  It doesn’t taste candy-like … it tastes true to the fruit.  The walnut is also an authentic tasting walnut taste, and it complements the flavors in this cup perfectly.

But my favorite part of this tea is the Keemun itself.  It is rich and smooth and slightly astringent, and provides a very satisfying ‘canvas’ for the flavors of banana and walnut.  There is a certain bake-y kind of flavor to the tea that accentuates these flavors and elevates them.  It tastes like someone liquefied a slice of fresh banana walnut bread and added it to a rich, delicious Keemun tea.

If you are a fan of banana nut bread … this is a tea you really MUST try.  Butiki Teas did this one just right!  It is so yummy!

So Long, and Thanks for All the Licorice Black Chai Blend from Butiki Teas

licorice

Chai Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  Butiki Teas

Chai Description:

One of our customers, Sasha, challenged us to create a unique licorice masala chai custom blend. We ended up loving her blend so much, that we decided to offer it on our website. The name of this tea is a reference to one of the owner’s favorite authors, Douglas Adams. This soothing tea features licorice; however, the spice notes are also present and linger long after the sip and meld with the licorice notes. With each sip, the licorice and spice notes seem to become stronger yet they are not overly aggressive. While this tea is fantastic plain, this blend shines with a little rice milk and sugar. Taster’s Review:

I love licorice, so when I heard about this licorice-y masala chai, I got very excited.  And this tea – So Long, And Thanks For All The Licorice Black Chai Blend from Butiki Teas – is worth all the hype, because it’s AHH-mazing!

First of all, I absolutely love the name because I love Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.  Then, I open up the pouch and I see big, whole pieces of star anise (one of my favorite tea spices!) and I can smell all the amazing spices and most of all I can smell the licorice!  This is very licorice-y!  This tea takes licorice to a whole other level.  If you aren’t a fan of black licorice, this tea is not for you.  But, if you love licorice, you’re probably going to love this chai like I do.

The base is Butiki Teas’ Organic Guranse, and it provides a nice, earthy richness to the cup.  And while the licorice is very strong in this tea, I like that I do taste the other spices in the chai.  I taste the cinnamon, a hint of clove and cardamom, and a slight nutty tone from the nutmeg.  It’s truly a wonderful and unique chai – unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before … but am really glad to be tasting it now, because I LOVE licorice!

This is easily one of the best (if not the best) licorice-y teas that I’ve ever tried.  In fact, I can’t think of one at the moment that even compares.  This is truly a treat for this licorice lover.

Taster’s Review:

OK, yeah, you got me.  I ordered this one out of sheer curiosity.  Pineapple … Cilantro? Cream???  That sounds just too weird for me to NOT try.

And I’m loving this Pineapple Cilantro Cream White Tea Blend from Butiki Teas.  Yes, it’s unusual, quite unlike any tea that I’ve ever tried!  But, that may just be what I like best about it – it is so different, and yet, so tasty!  This combination of flavors really works well.

The first thing I notice about this tea – besides the unique taste! – is that the flavors are remarkably well-balanced.  It doesn’t taste like Pineapple with a hint of cilantro and a creamy backdrop, or like a heavily cilantro’d white tea with notes of pineapple and cream.

I taste the three components of pineapple, cilantro and cream pretty equally.  The white tea is a nice base for this because it tastes light and crisp, and really contributes to the overall *fresh taste* of this tea.  The pineapple adds a sweet, juicy note.  The cilantro is enhanced by the freshness of the white tea and it offers just a hint of herbaceous warmth to the cup.  The cream softens the cup, sweetens it – and melds beautifully with the natural creamy tones of the Bai Mu Dan.  It is a well-rounded, exotic tasting experience for the palate!

And this gets even better as it cools – making it a delightfully different iced tea treat!  What a clever blend from Butiki Teas!

Taster’s Review:

When I heard about this White Whisper Tea from Butiki Teas – a Kenyan tea – I really wanted to try it!  I have really enjoyed the few teas from Kenya that I’ve tried, but most of what I’ve tried thus far have been black teas, and I was really interested to try this White Whisper.

And it is LOVELY!  The description that Butiki Teas has provided (and that I’ve included above) is spot-on!  This does have a delicate buttery tone to it, not quite as buttery as say, a Chinese Sencha might be, but, there are delightful notes of butter to this that I don’t usually find in a white tea.  There are also delicious peach tones.  These peach tones did not immediately speak out to me, it took a few sips for the peach to really emerge.

The floral tones are soft and meld beautifully with the peach notes.  The one word I’d use to describe this cup is delicate.  It has a very soft taste, but it’s really quite enjoyable.  I love the subtle qualities of this tea.

And the tea holds up for quite a few infusions.  I managed six – each subsequent infusion just as lovely as the first.  Different … yes, but still quite delicious.  The flavors begin to emerge more with the later infusions, and then become more harmonious.

A really lovely tea!  If you’re a white tea fan – you really should try it!
